Htobago, a hairy picture of Lola (Baikala Bey) I've only had her since December
I have heard of Sam Davidson but have rather lost track of racing in the last year or so, I think just because a horse is pretty doesn't mean he can't go like stink, and so many ex-racers go on to have careers in showing, endurance etc there's always something for them to do. My old gelding was a brother to Ali Khan, I never showed him but he was a brilliant hunter.
Vlacqs! Oh JJ, addict-ville here
all you do is give us sire and dam and you'll get their lines back to 1830! Dare you go there!
My gelding is a welsh x Anglo arab, unfortunately we don't have any more details on his breeding, and i have a filly who is 2 years old next month and is Trakehner x Arab. Her sire is called Eternal sky, and i believe he was bred at the Sky Arabian stud in Norfolk. Im not really very knowledgeable when it comes to arab breeding but i believe my little filly is a descendant of Sky Crusader.
Here is her pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/evening+sky4
Your stallion is stunning, did he feature on arabian lines website recently? I often pop onto AL to try to learn more about Evies lineage but get a bit stumped by it all!!
Enfys - Lola looks gorgeous - even in her winter woollies!
JavaJane yours are lovely as well - that PBA looks sooo Araby!
Golly - yes - aren't we awful with our pedigree-obsession!
And - er - please can I have the pedigrees of all the other Arabs on here??? Pleeeease!
And while we're at it, mainly cos I've just learnt to post pics so it's my new thing, here's yet another pic of Tobago (also as a 2yo, taken at Malvern last year, with his wonderful trainer/handler Mark Gamlin):
I know little or nothing about Trakehners, except that they cross v nicely with Arabs!
But the Arab side of your filly's pedigree is super - mainly English with 3 good Polish lines. I always loved the Sky horses - they were always beautiful AND very athletic. Lucky you! Any pics of this filly?
Yes - Tobago was featured on Arabian Lines in February - the feature is still on there if you go to the stallion section and scroll down.
Meanwhile, here's another photo (please tell me if I'm boring you all to death, OK?)! Also as a 2yo, doing his most favourite thing, i.e. hooning around a field (he's a speed- and adrenalin-junkie):
Wow benjisgirl - that is a really beautiful filly! You must be soooo proud of her!
I don't think the Sky stud is still going - which is a shame, cos as I said they bred some super horses, mostly using that English/Polish cross that works so well.
I love the Trakehner/Arab cross. I'm really excited cos a v nice breeder has asked me if she can use Tobago as a foundation stallion for a v ambitious Anglo and Part-bred sport-horse/show-horse breeding programme, due to start next year. I think she should get some Trakehners!!!
Your boy is a bit liscious I have to say! I had a pure bred mare by Gai Gaspacho out of a Roxan mare and loved her to bits but when she was PTS got my PBA Willow who is a lovely little soul. I am a big fan of Trakheners too and very interested to hear more about the arab/Trak mix
Her grand dam is Crystal Czar so yes. Her grand sire on her dams side is Magic Argosy. He is by Argos. Her grand dam on her sires side is Pepita Bint Procyon. I would love to breed from her one day. If I could figure out how to get pics off pc id put one on.
Punch and I hack out mostly we take trail rides for the pony trekking centre. We also jump unaffiliated and like to do a bit of XC whenever possible - definitely his favourite thing ever. Want to do working hunter classes this year aswell.
I don't have any Arabs myself but was head girl at Cullinghurst for years and produced their ridden horses including Crystal Magician, Caramanda and Majari.
Thanks im very proud of her... Shes a little star!!
Thats a real shame about the Sky stud but from what i have gathered on AL there seems to be a fair few still around to carry on that line.
Im sure Tobago would cross really well with a Trakehner. Ive got a pure bred Trakehner filly and last year the stud bred a couple of their mares to the late Fairlyn Gemini with very nice results. Its amazing when i look at my trakehners breeding as a few generations back there is a predominance of arabian blood. Its quite fascinating!!
Both of my PB arabs share a similar outlook and personality, they always try their utmost to please and are so genuine and bold. Just so he's not left out heres my welsh x Anglo arab boy, he's 18 this year but can still strut his stuff with the best of them.
I think he was fine as a young horse. I don't remember him being any trouble at all.
I didn't stay at the stud long as the people who were renting the yard from Michael Pitt Rivers were, let's just say, less than ideal employers.
A girl called Erika owned him then but he too left the stud soon after I did.
I think he won a show class at Malvern didn't he? Then he went on to have a very successful racing career but I'd not heard of him for years.

Such beautiful horses you all have! Do any of you know of any Arabs coming up for sale? I am looking to buy and can't find many advertised!
[/ QUOTE ]
There are lots and lots of lovely Arabs advertised for sale on the Arabian Lines website! And it's free to join and put up a 'wanted' ad if you don't see exactly what you are you are looking for in the 'sales' section.

I think that is partly why Trakehners cross so well with Arabs - because the the Trakehners already have a lot of Arab blood. Do you have any pics of your pure-bred Trakehner filly?
Your welsh x anglo is gorgeous! Golly - you do have some very nice horses! Do you show them all? Will I see your PBAs at Malvern this year???
Almost all of Tobago's visiting mares this year are pure-breds, but one is a most beautiful PBA, a winner at the Nationals! I'm really excited about this one, and about a v nice TB mare as well. The TB mare's last foal was by Mars - a hard act to follow!
I don't have any Arabs myself but was head girl at Cullinghurst for years and produced their ridden horses including Crystal Magician, Caramanda and Majari.
Your boy is stunning. Do you keep him at home or with Mark?
[/ QUOTE ]
Those were wonderful horses! I remember them well.
My boy is at Cliveden Stud, in Berkshire. But Mark comes to visit him, and will be showing him again for me this year.

My two are bred in the following way (I know absolutely nothing about arab bloodlines so any info you can give would be fascinating!):
Gedenski is by Omarele (Grojec/Heleisha) ex Rashandy (Sunlea Silver Shane/Rashinka)
And my other arab Hajar is by El Helaly (Ikhnatoon/Enshad) ex Polemika (Aspect/Pastoral).
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm no expert, but Gedenski is English x Polish with one Egyptian line. Nice pedigree! Hajar is Egyptian x Russian - also with great bloodlines - I love the Russian/Egyptian cross.
(My boy is mainly a mix of Russian, English and Polish lines, with a dash of Egyptian.)
I know you know all about his pedigree but if you click on the starred names and then the little picture icon at the top you can see photos of the horses. You have probably discovered that, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I get most distracted (and burn food, frequently
