This is the really hard part for owners stuck in the middle but in defense of vets and traditional HCPs they believe what they are taught is the best way to approach these problems. We all argue for what we believe and think we are doing what's best for horses.You learn pretty quick that questioning the "accepted treatments" is met with ridicule, obfuscation and hostility by those with a vested interest in perpetuating them, however ineffective they are.
Imho, changes have got to come in the training of professionals along with a culture of questioning and openness. I wont bang on about the medical model v an holistic horse centred model. lol
