Hi there!
Its been a while, I cant even remember how long its been since I told HHO how my ponies have been!
Dottie has been getting better from her tendon injury, which was almost 2 years ago now. She is mostly staying on the ground, as even though the vet said she could be back jumping again I don't feel up for it properly yet. So we have mostly been playing at dressage. We have been going for lessons with Adam Kemp and having a fun (ish) time pretending we are dressage people, we are faking it, but we don't care!!!
She still has her moments...
But shes mostly a good egg!
I have recently started riding her in a double and its a huge improvement, especially now as she is so fit and strong and is learning exciting things like changes. On our last trip to Adam it was decided that this was the way forward for now. I said I felt too big for her (remember how fat I was before!) well Adam joked that I needed to eat more, to weigh more, just to be able to hold her!!
Once we have nailed the changes a bit more (one way is pretty trustworthy, the other is not so much!) we will go out straight at elementary...apparently!
I have jumped her a few times at home. She LOVES it and is so pingy, but Im not ready to do more, even though her leg apparently should be. She is just too precious to me. I think if I just jump her for fun at home occasionally then I will see how I feel in a while.
Her younger sister Belle started proper work over the winter and has been a mix of good, to sharp as anything!!! She is settling down a bit more now and working better, with less tomfoolery!! Here are some pics from over the winter...
She still had her moments which made me love my neck strap!!
But she also tried to be good!
We have had alarming moments when my toggle hit into my hat and made horse death noises
She has been to some clinics
And to dressage, where she did brilliantly (luckily shes much quieter to ride away from home!)
She got just under 70% in her intro and prelim tests and came 1st and 3rd
Adam says she needs to be more forward and more into the contact so we have been practicing that more recently
When Dot gets registered with BD so will Belle and we will see how we get on. I have tried jumping Belle and she loves it, but shes too tricky for me so I have decided against trying until she is more rideable! Everyone says she looks like a dressage diva so we will just see how it goes with her!
Proving that horses can be like boomerangs, THE COW IS BACK! Her mum got pregnant, so she came to the decision that the cow needed a new mum (there were many tears involved) so she has come back to me to ride for a bit and to advertise. She really is super and is a breath of fresh air being so sensible and lovely. I have cow horse love.
And even more recently I bought a new microhorse called Daisy! She is here to play with, with the hope of eventing her a little bit and then maybe looking for a new human for her. She was backed last year and did a bit with her previous owner and then had some time off. Shes a dude, even in the pouring rain!
So that's my winter to spring recap!!! I hope you and your horses have been well x
