Hi guys, what’s 5 things that you think would/could make horse ownership better/easier whether that’s a product or service or doesn’t matter and also any problems or pain points to do with owning horses for example: lack of a product or service?

thanks for reading and would really appreciate everyone’s comments and opinions.

Welcome to the forum. Is this for an article you are writing, by any chance? It's an interesting question but an unusual first post for a new joiner and I think people should probably be warned if they are likely to end up being quoted somewhere.

Pre-soaked and dried hay
A gadget you could put a handful of grass or forage in, and it would tell you the sugar/starch content
Also a gadget you could wrap around a horse's legs to get an objective reading for the strength of the digital pulses, like a BP cuff for humans
Brilliant reply this is the sort of things I’m looking for!!?

Hi no it’s not an article I’m looking to start a business in the equine industry and want to fill a need not just be another business that starts up doing the same as everyone else.

Can I just ask what’s the reason for the pre soaked and then dried hay? Convenience?
Time saving? Etc
Because I loathe soaking hay!

Having had a couple of laminitics who lived on soaked hay I got thoroughly sick of the routine - weigh the hay, soak the hay for x hours, rinse the hay, hang the hay up to drain for a bit so it didn't soak the bed, give the hay to the horse, and repeat 4 times daily because they had lots of small helpings.
And then there's the hassle of lugging around heavy, sodden nets, and what to do with the filthy soaking water

I would have loved to have hay with the sugar already washed out and then dried again (I've no idea if such a thing is even possible) that you could just get out of the bag, stuff in a net and away you go

If we had a gadget that measured the sugars(as suggested) we may be able to cut down on some of the soaking etc? We end up with endless soaking for x hours and we don't actually know how much good its doing or whether its actually necessary? We may only need to soak half the hay for example. Anything that makes this jpb easier!
