I have just called this company to ask where my refund of over one hundred pounds is for an order that I have cancelled, only to be told that: they have no money in their bank, their bank account has been frozen by the bank and they are probably going to go bankrupt! Meanwhile they are advertising a rug sale on their web site. This means that you could end up paying for a rug which it states is in stock when it actually isn't (which I did) and then when you ask for a refund you don't get it!

, I suppose that is the way many a company will go during this economic crisis :(.

Thanks for the warning though and I hope you manage to get your money back.

Im afradi they have been in trouble for a lot longerthan the economic downturn. They advertise stock they dont hold, but take the morney immediately. Then order from the supplier.

Most reputable companies do not take the money unless they have it in stock or until it arrives from the supplier.

I've heard so many bad reviews about this company - to be honest I would never use them and think their bankruptcy has been a long time coming!

I thought that they had been on the 'bargepole' list for years. Well known that they only order stuff in when they have enough customer orders to warrant it I thought.

Thanks for the replies. Their blase attitude on the telephone is now explained. I have spoken with Trading Standards who have told me that, in this case to apply for the card refund. This does not mean that I will automatically receive the refund though and could take six weeks for it to be done. What annoys me is that they are still advertising and how many people will be ordering stuff that they really don't have . It's discraceful.

Yes - believe you are correct - I heard that they only get the stock in when they have several orders to fill so you can wait months for your rug!

I think there was a thread about them a little while ago, a member had ordered rugs and hadn't recieved them, as they didn't have them in stock and was waiting for the suppliers to deliver to them, and then would't return her money when she cancelled. Could be wrong though.

According to companies house they are already in liquidation

That is based on the company number listed on their website.

If however you search for the company name they have done the usual and changed the original company name and then ditched it with the debts, moving their "known trading name" to a new company - a "phoenix from the ashes"

Interestingly though, the website still quotes the old company number as the one you are trading with. I would be inlcined to really have a go with this with trading standards as it appears that their details are incorrect as if they have been trading as Cam under the incorrect company number that is illegal and I found reference to the corporate insolvency in March 2010 in the London gazette (which is being way too slow for me to link tbh)

I am sure many of us remember CAM going under but it has been resurrected

Hope someone involved directly takes this to Trading Stds it is a disgrace

I find it quite unbelievable that despite complaints and Trading Standards involvement going back years this is still happening. Last year I thought I'd lost my money with Horserugs4u aka Cam Equestrian Ltd but after months of hassle I did eventually get my money back. This company was actually struck-off the Register of Companies on 1 Feb 2011 and via other forums (Horsegossip, IHDG and TREC-UK) I warned people not to order anything as Horserugs4u were circulating a sales email at the same time. They were reinstated on Companies House register (HOW!!!) afterwards so now poor people are being conned again. There have been complaints made at a higher level than Trading Standards but you never really knew if anything was being investigated behind the scenes.

I hope there is still a chance for people to get their money back via credit card companies but it just seems totally wrong that this crooked way of trading has been allowed to continue.

May I add my warning to others. This company {also known as Cam Equestrian} are essentially committing acts of theft and fraud. There are a number of forums with many people telling a very similar story. They take your money and then simply do not supply the goods you have paid for.Next your attempts to contact them will probably fail. You will either get no reply to your E mails, letters,or phone calls or an excuse that they are 'out of stock'.There is a real possibility that they only actually order 'stock' from other suppliers when their own orders mount up.Some people have actually struck lucky and received goods.MOST HAVE NOT.There are also tales of nasty replies and actions from the 'company' when customers actually have the cheek to ask for their money back.It is obvious from the posts that they have been doing this for several years. It is a great shame that Horserugs foru are clearly quite content to make a living by stealing other peoples money.Do not touch them with a bargepole!

I only got an email from them a couple of weeks ago advertising their site. I have had some excellent bargains from them over the years, but stopped using them a couple of years ago after they askd me to make my orderagain using a credit card (I'd already paid by paypal). They wouldn't refund the paypal bfore I did that. I chased them up daily and eventually got my refund.

I too got caught by them a few years ago - I managed to get my money back but took many phone calls, emails and months.

Interesting that a flier for them came through with the H & H a few weeks ago......!

I got a sales email from them last week! How on earth are they allowed to continue to peddle their wares like this. I last bought a rug three years ago from them that took ages to deliver and it was also faulty. They ignored my email of complaint........!

Can anyone help? I ordered a rug from them in March 2011 it never came, I've been chasing for a refund ever since. I've called and emailed, once I was even told that my refund would be with me within a week. But still nothing and I think now they are just ignoring me. Thanks

i just bought a rug from them i hadn't seen this warning, as has been stated it quite clearly said it was in stock and it wasn't of course. had to wait a month for it to arrive. i ordered a quaterhorse rambo thinking it would be bigger than the normal rambo's - wrong it is a complete waste for my horse, but may be best to sell it on ebay thank risk no refund!! DOH

Hi
There must be someone out there with the right connections or knowledge on how to shut this company down and ban the people from ever setting up again.

You could make a claim in the small claims court? google money claims online- that's the online portal for making a claim for money. I'd start off by threatening legal action, and if you get no response then make your claim, I say. If you win they would have to pay the costs of your bringing the claim anyway.

Only problem with making claim against them is even if you were successful @ small claims still no guarantee they would refund/pay up. If the new/phoenix company then went into liquidation all legal action would be frozen.

Any update on this company please?
Have ordered a rug from them and it hasn't come, of course, 3 weeks on and they have my money!! Meanwhile I really need this rug for my itchy horse! He has wrecked everything else!! Still itching in October - yes! :( (No advice needed about sweet itch thanks).
Do the rugs arrive eventually? We usually order show rugs from them and get them embroidered to give away as prizes, but we learnt our lesson last year and ordered early for this season, we got them eventually. I don't want to continue ordering if they have disappeared now. eekk!
