How many times have you come off your horse...

I fell off once in the 20 months I've been riding. Was from a very small mare I'd never ridden before who tripped over her own feet and catapulted me off. Result = broken collarbone. Who said dressage was safe :o
Been back on board since the end of October and so far so good. But I now Always wear a body protector. Falling hurts, well not the falling lol, it's when you land. :)

I came off my beloved boy once in the ten years I owned him and it was my fault anyway even his bucks unseated me but never came off with them thank god lol.
Haven't ridden my new girl much so can't say on that but I'm expecting to come flying off one day lol

Oh dear, I lost count in the first year I had my pony (she is still my first pony). I got up to about 18 or thereabouts before losing count (that is just off her - she was VERY naughty when I got her). And it's only got worse since then - fifty? A hundred? I really have no idea. But if it's seven falls to make a rider I should be brilliant by now, no idea why I'm still hopeless really...

Four times in 3 years. First time was in my lesson - she spooked and did a spin right - I went left. Second time trotting down the hay field she did a spin left, I went right. Third time she slipped over on frosty ground, I went over her shoulder. Last time was the now legendary spin... This time in my dressage test - embarrassing or what...

my horse i've had for 7yrs, never fallen off him. my ponies i've had for 4yrs and not fallen off them.
my last horse i had for 3yrs and fell off once.
horse i had for 11yrs i fell off twice. another one i had for same amount of time never.
my first pony i fell off him on a regular basis. my mother let me get on with it and always knew if i wasn't riding him properly cos i fell off. the pony was a proper little toe rag who if you didn't ride him properly he would get you off, mainly in a ditch with lots of black thorns or nettles in! :D

Had her nearly 22yrs, backed her 20yrs ago. Come off her countless times, stopped counting around the 50 mark. But the majority of those times were doing highly stupid things in my teens, that I already knew would likely result in a fall. Eg sitting sideways bareback to play sidesaddles then attempting to canter, & other silly things. And the others were mainly when she had a habit of throwing in really dirty stops, taking off then slamming forelegs back down, I was rather proud of my ability to somersault & land on my feet on the other side of the fence with outstretched arms like a triumphant gymnast. If you take the easily avoided, silly rider falls out of it though, only 2 or 3 times & they have been when she's either fell or lost her footing jumping.

ive been told you have to fall off 100 times to be considred a 'real/proper' rider

4 off current mare......dropping shoulder
at least! 10 if not 12! off current gelding! always jumping :/ something about a loose girth i believe :S or bucking :)

and when i was in riding schools at least once a month :O ..........

so i think im well on my way to reaching the 100 fall target :D

Known him 5 or 6 years, fallen off 4 times!

First two were at a show, 20mins apart!
3rd was because he spooked and fell over and I just kinda rolled off. (We were both ok)
4th was at a jump. I don't know why he did it but he randomly refused and I came off and hit the block. I got concussion, but hopped right back on and made sure I got over the jump before going to hospital!

Abba zero times in 4 years and I started her. Heidi zero times in 6 years and I started her. Frank zero times in 6 years but for the last 3 he's been semi retired.

Don't worry, I've fallen off plenty in my career span. I also raised Abba and Heidi and started them so I better get that right. Abba was also away in training. Her rider fell off once in the middle of a combo. He got off balance when she gave a big jump over the first part. Instead of going on she slowed down ever so softly and the rider slid off and landed on his feet. Back up and did it again properly. So that's it. That's the only time anyone has come off of them.

Only fallen off of mills once since I got her 6 months ago (gripping the woodenv bookshelf :p ) , and in that time I backed n broke her aswell. Iv fallen off 2 horses at work already, and iv only been there 3 months. Little pony iv fallen off of more times than I cab keep track of, once fell off him sixteen times in 2 hours xc schooling. Sharp little so and so he is. Not sure why but I am genuinely shocked (and envious) of how few Times some of you lot have fallen off :')

Come off Andy 3 times in the space of 2 years. Each one caught on video, once was playing polocrosse, he decided that the ball was going to eat him so spun the opposite direction whenever someone threw it. We parted company as I leaned the opposite direction to catch the ball.

The other 2 times was him depositing me in a ditch xc schooling then ******ing off back to the trailer

The pony, well I stopped counting at 100, he was an absolute artist. I've had him 17 years.
My little mare, once when we both fell over, had her 12 years.
My slightly bigger mare, come off twice, she has come over 4 or 5 times, although it might be more, I try not to think about it! Had her 10 years.

Once in 19 years...she's a strapping 17'3 horse so think the height made me stick on! The time I came a cropper in a wh comp, did a double wasn't set up for the second fence! Didn't think she would do it honest girl attempted it left me behind! Landed on my feet next to her "she looked rather bemused" I was totally winded! It was a long way down!

Forgot how many times, didn't realize it was a competition.

Anyway, last time was about 4 weeks ago out hacking, tried to do some schooling on an open field as the menagerie was flooded etc, did some circles etc etc, he was not impressed and being awkward, then tried a turn on the forehand, he tripped over his own feet and went onto his knees, he couldn't get up so I tried to jump off, caught my foot and fell flat on my back, so basically fell off at a standstill.

5 times in 7.5 years - three times in the school and twice out hacking ... and it hurts that little bit more every times it happens!

Flint - countless times! When a shetland whips round from underneath you you don't stand a hope in hell! That's over 12 years.

Rains - once - he tripped over his own feet and somersaulted - 5 years.

Pips - Never in the 2 years that she has been ridden and I broke her in.

Freebie - twice - once at his first ever ridden show - the Royal Highland of all places but luckily it was in the collecting ring and I landed on my feet. The other was at home when we were doing a video shoot for his for sale ad ... Ooops! Thats in 8 years and I broke him in.

Jasper - twice - Once going over his first ever coloured pole which he sky rocketed and I landed on my feet next to him and the other when he ******ed off with me because he took a sever dislike to the new bit I was trying, he swerved round a tight corner and slammed the brake on and I took a slowmo slide to the ground.

Kyle - Never in 7 years.

Laurel - Never in a year and a half.

Gray - Never in the year that I have owned him or the 4 years I have ridden him.

Jeff - Once when in training - his back end slipped on the ice and I slide out the back door. I hace had him for 4 years and have ridden him for 8 years in total.

In 19yrs I came off Blue twice - once because he slipped in the showring and the second because I sneezed and scared him whilst without stirrups/reins.

Came off Alfie for the first time last week... had him 3yrs this march. It wasn't his fault, he got tangled in a barbed wire strand on the bridlepath and my stirrup leather came off.

I've lost count in 2 and a half years.... is that a bad thing?!

In my defence he went through a horrendous stage where I was being decked a few times a week but was diagnosed with KS.

4 times in 12 months.

1. First group lesson - my fault - I forgot to ask him to turn a corner in canter - my head and shoulder meets the school wall.
2. Mounting - he skipped to the side, saddle slipped, he bucked off with me half on - landed with a bump on the car park.
3. Hacking - He spots haylege bales in a field - spooks big time - panics/bolts - I exit stage left and walk 3 miles back to the yard.
4. Hacking - My fault - he tanks off - I lose balance and hit the deck (that was last week).

On other horses before that 20 odd times in 25 years and mostly jump refusals. :D

Last time I answered one of these saying "not for ages!" I came off someone elses horse and got smashed to pieces the day after :D

First pony - pretty much every ride - at least once - I wish I was exaggerating! He definitely taught me to have a sticky seat.
My late gelding, I never came off him - he tried his very hardest but somehow I stuck there for 7 years!!
With my new mare, I've had her 9 months today according to my sig... but it's only a matter of time and I'm massively surprised that the fall hasn't come sooner :o

Once in nearly 6 months... today!

Although I don't think it counts as he slipped and fell over... more an unplanned dismount than a fall!

Horse before that, 6 times in 5 months- he was a nasty bucker... I got rid!

My dear old mare, probably about 4 times in 6 years- most in the first year whilst I got used to her 'spook, spin, bog off, stop dead' and 'canter, canter, canter, ohhh... leaf! Lets stop dead and look at it... head down!' antics ;)
