Hi all,
Please help
My girl is hardy, a good doer and is very furry. I'm not much of a rugger and usually rug roughly as follows:
Day (turned out)
heavy rain - rainsheet (only cause she takes so long to dry really)
wet and below 5 degrees - rainsheet,
below about 1 degree/zero- light/medium weight (170g)
below about -4 - medium weight (220g)
Blizzards or any colder than about -8 - heavyweight combo (350g)
Night (stabled - American barn with 20+ horses kicking out heat)
below about 5 degrees - fleece
zero and below - lightweight stable rug (110g)
minus 5 and below - medium/heavy weight (220g)
Yesterday I gave her a blanket clip. She is still very furry on her bum, back and legs but has a clipped neck, tunny and halfway up her sides.
I don't usually clip her but she was sweating just standing still. How much would you adjust her rugging to compensate? I popped a fleece on last night and a 170g rug on today as I thought she might feel it more first day, but not sure how much extra to rug really.
Any advice much appreciated
