Just a naughty post to see how many people actually stick to the books when dealing with their horse.

I can openly admit that my horse is shod when he needs it. Ie : When the shoes are too worn, if his toes are too long or if he's lost a shoe. This can be 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 10 weeks..

My horses teeth are seen to when I remember to find someone to do them.

He is wormed 4 times a year, around the times the seasons change, so no date just when it seems right to worm him..

Who really worms and shoes their horse every 6 weeks, and gets their teeth done atleast once a year ?

Forgot to add - His vaccinations are done same day every single year as I am slightly paranoid!

The carrier is at our yard every week so although i try to remember about 6 weeks imagine not set on a date i see when he needs doing. Know i can text the farrier the day before i want him done.
Teeth were always done at the some time as boosters. Only this year he needed an extra visit mid year!

We were set in dates for worming but now we have changed to worm counts we are all over the place!

at work feet are done every 5 weeks although at one point last year we had a mare who was being done every two and half weeks as she was on road work only walking for an hour and half per day (how bored was I?).
dentist every 8-10 months
worming as vet says-every 6 wks with panacur this year at mo
backs are done currently evey 8 wks

my own shoeing/trimming when needed anything between 5-12wks
worming i do the diy yard worming programme, its a big yard so same as work
dentist yearly
backs rarely although you have reminded me to book my daughters in ASAP

Worm- 1/2 a year for tapeworm and once for ERW. Then any other time if needed. I don't do it routinely as not recommended.

Shoes booked every 6 weeks. Foot balance is very important.

Teeth every 9 months. I write it in my diary to remind me.

I tend to get the farrier out when my mare looks like she needs it, so can be anything from 8weeks to 12weeks

Worming, I do worm count

And my mare gets her teeth done every 6 months and every other time she gets her injections.......

We have a worm count done every 3 months at the yard so will worm depending on results. My horse is barefoot but is trimmed every 8 weeks and teeth are done with boosters so once a year.

Worming - every six weeks
Farrier - every 4 - 6 weeks
Backs - every 4 weeks during season, and at the end and start of season (eventing) not during winter unless problem.
Dentist - every 12 months

Can't see how you can get away with less.

most of the vets round here recommend regular worming as pin worm is becoming more of a problem and can be so difficult to treat-worm counts dont show all worm, pin worm being one of them
the yard vets (not mine) believe worm count regulated worming is responsible for the increase in pin worms

Only a couple of wormers treat pinworm though jools? Strongid and panacur off the top if my head.....

We had pinworm last year. You can test for it though with the Sellotape test. West gate labs do it for free :)

Worm count and worm as appropriate, still worm for tapeworms as they don't show in worm counts. Had a mare with pinworms and had to use double dose of strongid-p to get rid of them.
Shoe every 6 weeks (have seen problems caused by infrequent shoeing).
Dentist yearly unless he says they need to be seen more frequently (last horse had a diastema and needed 6 monthly dentist visit, I know someone who's horse had this and she didn't treat correctly and was told her horse needed £2000 worth of dental treatment!!)

Worming once a year - spring/ summer time
Teeth maybe 12 - 18 months depends if they need doing.
shoes - every 4 weeks during hunting season. 6 -8 weeks (ocasionally 10) over the summer. All depends on the shoes, length of feet. My mare is very good at wearing her backs out and not the fronts

Worming we have counts down twice a year and only the ones with a count get wormed, but they are wormed once a year with for I want to say red worm? The one that is not on the count.
Shoes I get every 8 weeks. Seems to work for Ted, Minstrel gets a trim at the same time though he could have gone longer then Ted when shod.
Teeth I used to get Ted done every 6 months but now since he has decided he is scared (after years and he has never had a bad experience) and needs sedated he will be getting done once a year. Due November. Minstrel once a year, again November time.
I also get each saddle checked every 6 months.

Shoeing is I think every 6 weeks

Worming - I worm the ones who need it, have too many to worm count so principally do the youngsters in the spring and all 5 day panacur back end. I have 8 on 26 acres though so lots of rotation etc.

Teeth only ridden gelding twice a year atm as seems to always be quidding if not. Vets/dentists now insist on mechanical with sedation which makes it a no no for the babies for me as I don't really handle mine that much.

Worm every 3 months (someone organises it for me so it's easy :D)
Farrier whenever he looks like he needs them, probably every 10-12 weeks.
Teeth every 6 months atm because he's a youngster.

Teeth every 6 months as my mare had a problem (she is now sold). Once I have had my new boy done, if all is well I will go on yearly teeth checks.

Worming is done when the yard owners leaves me a wormer on my shelf :p

Feet are at the minute every 6 weeks with a barefoot trimmer as I am transitioning my pony. Once he is good I will be tidying his feet myself, so as and when needed. x

Teeth and jabs every year
Feet get trimmed every 8 weeks, i book them in at the end of each farrier visit so i know when he is coming next.
Worming they are worm counted and wormed when needed and tape wormed twice a year.
Backs done if needed.
All my horses seem fine with this.

I have horses at two different yards.

Yard one: worm counts done and wormed as necessary.
Shoes for my spavin horse done very 6 to 7 weeks.
The one who lives out in the field gets a trimmed as needed so probably twice a year.
Teeth are done as needed.
Back lady (McTimoney) and saddle fitter only see my horses if they have an issue or have had a massive change in shape.

All mine are vaccinated yearly (Flu & Tet), having seen a pony die of tetnus as a child their is no way I wouldn't vaccinate.

Yard 2:
Shod or trimmed every 8 weeks, more if needed.
Wormed on the yard worming programme as advised by the vet (so currently every 13 weeks)
Teeth are done yearly, however they haven't been done this year as they didn't need doing.
Back and saddle fitter as above.

Worm count and worm as necessary and worm for tapeworm twice a year. Horses are shod and trimmed every 8 weeks. Rubys teeth are done every 6months and Marleys once a year as he needs heavy sedation and is also retired bless him

Feet - I run a rasp round them maybe every 4 weeks
Physio - checked every 4 weeks, sometimes every 2 weeks
Teeth - dentist is here every month so I get them checked at 6 months
Worming - worm count 4 times a year, give a tapeworm wormer in the spring and pramox in the autumn

Wormed - once/twice a year but always for tapeworm. Rather poo pick and keep fields clean then worm every 6 weeks.

Farrier varies between 6 - 9 weeks depending on if cob's front shoes are worn down and he's sliding on the road. He's barefoot behind and brat pony is barefoot and keeps them in check out hacking but gets them done when farrier comes

Teeth - once/twice a year. Usually always done on their annual vet checkover and the vet is here so often, I get them to have a quick peek:) However last teeth work the vet did, he did say on oldies he likes to leave them alone as much as possible...only so much tooth you can rasp when it's running out!

Worm - depends on results of egg counts but generally only for the things not caught by the counts, e.g., tapeworm so once, maybe twice a year.

Shoe - every five/six weeks - depending on the time of year/how fast his feet are growing.

Teeth - once a year . . . in fact he's due in about a month or so.

I spend a lot of money on my boy as it is, I'd prefer he was healthy, worm-free, feet properly trimmed/balanced and had healthy teeth in his head so he can eat the feed/hay I buy for him and keep his condition.

P

Leo is shod every 6 weeks without fail
Teeth checked once a year but as he's new checking them after 9 months
And were on the equest worming programme so they are all done at the same time and we stick to the program :D

Teeth- Two of mares every six months. My other mare and the boys every twelve months. I am also guilded by my EDT, if they need doing more often I will get them done.

Backs - The competition horses monthly plus if I feel things are not right. The others get checked when my chiropractor comes to the others.

Worm - Tape worm ,pin worm and do worm counts every three months.

Farrier - Again depending what work they are doing( competition horses) the others (working / hacking out) every six weeks, the pony gets trimmed when my farrier thinks she needs doing.

Farrier every 6-8 weeks (barefoot so I rasp them every 2/3 weeks)
Physio was on vet recommendation so was treated, then treated again 6 weeks later. Plan to get her out again before xmas as he's been bought back into work etc. Otherwise it would be if he shows a problem.
McTimoney chiro every 6 months-ish.
Dental he was done April 2011, then I think June this year. I'm not particularly anal about it as he's grazing 24/7 for half the year and doesn't get any concentrated feeds so tends to chew properly.

Oh and sin of all sins, I only wormed twice a year for tapeworm when on a DIY yard where no-one else wormed! Currently on the 13 week plan.

Shoes - as a general rule, 6 weeks. His feet grow fairly quickly, I tend to judge it on how long his toes are or how worn the shoes are though. It's usually every 6 weeks or so, though. Worming, every 13 weeks as per the program he's under at our local feed barn who works out what sort of wormer is needed at the time etc. Teeth, once a year, though so far he's been seen twice this year as I had some suspicions. Saddler is also usually once a year, though again, if any suspicions arise, more frequently.

Wormed every 2 months.

Shoes pretty much as you said OP, averages around every 7 weeks.

Dentist once a year. Tet every third year and flu booster yearly.

Shoes - every 7 weeks they are booked in for the next visit on every appointment
Teeth - once every year definately but sooner if i feel they require it
Jabs - every year as needed
Worming - We have a plan that we follow and they get done regularly!
