How old are you and your horse?

A lot of you have multiple horses. What do you do with them? how do you have enough time to look after so many or do you have your own place with land so keep them living out at home.

YO has 6 ranging from 18 months to 31.
I have 6 at home from 22 to 5. Now sure how I collected so many!! 4 are still ridden, of those 2 just hack ( 1 is my ex competition horse) and the other 2 are competition horses. We have them living at home but have said no more horses as this lot will see us out. We are both mid fifties.

I don’t think I will be one of these people riding in their 80’s. But I do love George so much.
I ride in my 80s and it isnt any different from riding in my 60s or 70s. It provides fresh air and exercise and a horse one loves.
Both my shares have had a reputation for getting over excited and bucking off riders but (touch wood) neither of them has ever done it with me. I have a theory that horses become slow and safe when ridden by a slow and safe elderly rider.

Well that is most encouraging @Skib, and I agree it is just terribly healthy, good for body and mind. Providing you don’t fall off! I like your theory and I do think George, although a slow and safe pony, behaves most carefully with me as opposed to my daughter. Also I well remember when my daughter had an ex racehorse he was very kind. He would walk calmly with me across a little stream on a nearby hack, which my daughter always used to gallop and jump at speed.

I'm 36 and the horses are -0.5, 15 and 27.
I keep them at home and at the moment do nothing with them because the 27 year old is retired and the 15 year old is carrying the -0.5 year old. I thought I might get a quiet year or so, but for my sins I'm riding / exercising someone else's horse but at least she's in full livery (and I don't pay).

I'm 48, and the horse is 6. I hope we will grow old together. Together, we discovered I (luckily) still bounce pretty well 🤣.
He's really steady for a young horse, but there are the occasional jumps for the wild Dutch crocodiles, and horse-eatings mail boxes and bins and dangerous flowerpots and such.

I am 52 and Bert is 6. I realised Bert will be only 21 when I reach retirement age so hope I will be well enough to continue working for many years beyond retirement. I really should have got an older horse. Although I was unfortunate to loose Homey at 20 I have friends with horses that are still going strong at 31. If he makes to 31 I will be 77.
I’m nearly 52 and I’ve got a 22 year old and 4.5 year old both warmbloods. My other half said when I got the youngster he would be my old boys age when I’m 70😅
