I've never had a horse with a 'horsey' name, only human names. I like it. All the other horses on the yard have horse names though, but they end up with more stupid nicknames than mine!
I do think that any name that finishes with '-ie' or an '-ey' works better as it is easier to yell across the fields
I love human names for animals - used to have a pony called Eric at the riding school I was at - genius name and suited him too. Also liked Bob, Arthur, Dave (well actually that was a mare called Misty but I swear she looked like a Dave!). Also Abbey who I used to call Abigail.
ETA. Mullponytrekking - the ponies in your sig are beautiful.
I have a Dolly, she was called that when I bought her, and I quite like it.
My cat is called Jess.
I don't have a problem with human names for animals as long as they suit.
Love human names for animals. Not sure why but tend to like the old fashioned ones too. So far we've had:
Jeremy (horse)
Jamie (horse)
Penny (current)
Norman (spaniel)
Hamish (spaniel)
Peggy (spaniel)
Charlotte and Tim (gerbils)
Phoebe (cat)
Lawrence (cat)
Claudius (cat)
Ophelia (cat)
(oh and I named most of my tropical fish... Brad, Angelina, Courtney, Jennifer, Fred, George, Jacques and the shrimps Mr & Mrs Hendrick)
we have an arthur and archie at our yard. Both names really suit them. I have a new horse called Shona, which my grandma mis heard and thought was called Sharon!
My cats are called Cilla and Tilda, does amuse me when OH has to shout for them at night.
I like human names for horses. I've named lots of the horses at the yard (boss never tells us their names
) Some of the more recent names include

> Kelly
> Bobby
> Zoe
> Joe
> Harry
> Charlie
> Seamus
> Freddie
> Annie
> Archie
> Ed
I like human names if they fit, my loan horse is Luke and I didn't like it at first but its grown on me, I call him Lukie most of the time anyway which I think is quite cute! It comes from his show name (Luke Skywalker).
I had 3 chickens called after my daughters naughty school friends (Lucy, Daisy and Alice) - and the fox ate them, not good. So now my animals have non human names!
My filly is Jasmine and I have an Irish setter called Ruby. My Golden Retriever is called Caoimhe (pronounced Keeva) which is a Gaelic name (OH is Irish) Really funny listening to the receptionist at the vet's trying to work out how to say it!
Coom-ha is the usual effort!
my past horses with human names are Penny,Summer,Sam,Megan,Anna and Harry. On the yard we have a Mandy,Josh,Rita and Cleo.We also had a Toby and a Lily until recently.2 of my cats are Lucy and Chloe.I guess I must like human names for animals too.
We always choose human names for ours, although some have been inherited from previous owners. Here goes: Toby, Queenie, Belinda (inherited, but next owners changed it to Sequin), Candy, Lucy, Oscar, Sam, Mattie & Harvey. My latest horses have come with non-human names, Tiger & Batman! I must say I can't imagine Batman being called anything else now.
Guess what my eldest son's called? Hector!
You wouldn't believe how many dogs we've met with that name. Everyone turns around in the supermarket to see which poor devil responds!

As I already had Batman I was hoping to find a pony called Robin!
OH thought we should have a pony called Tony. Tony the pony.
I can't bear human names for animals. All my dogs have flower/plant names though, so not sure what that says about me
. I have Daisy, Lily, Clover, Snowdrop and Barley. My old collie was called Poppy.
My cats are called Tia Ribbon and Snoopy - no correlation there Lol!
Most of my horses are registered horses so they already have 3 names and I just have to choose one of those names for their stable name. All their names are based on their lineage but there is always one name which works as a stable name. So, I may not be able to recount all of my horses but here goes; I have Jet, Ezzy, Spirit, Smokey, Apache, Sureshot, Romeo, Golden, Cloud, Legacy, Breeze, Pepseye, Buena, Badger, Cruise, Pal, Jezebel, Trixie. Not sure if I have any more.
We also have a little parrot. His name is Charlie ... and he has decided he is now a she, but the name stays the same as no-one ever calls him by that name; he is known as "Little birdie".
