Thank goodness he’s not any taller. I think you and I have very similar tastes in horses, and I dreaded opening that link when I saw that you’d posted it!

I have promised myself that the next one will be over 15hh.

I saw "to make 14'3hh" and thought "too small for me". I wouldn't be able to afford the vet's bills, either, never mind the purchase price.

Oh, that's very off-putting. I would be super stressed trying to sound like the "right" type of home, whatever that is. Like having a f*cking job interview. For the record, I am an excellent owner, but that's a matter of opinion, isn't it?

I’m guessing if he really doesn’t like you he’ll price the horse so high it would be ridiculous. The price would probably be more if bloodlines were important for showing too, or if someone desperately wanted that bloodline.

I mean..people are free to price their horse(s) as they wish. Or determine who they would like to sell to. I don't hold that against a seller. If it comes to be that they don't want me to buy their horse, even if it is because they don't like the color of my shirt that day, then fine. I don't buy the horse ?‍♀️

That being said, life is short, buy the horse! ?

I’m still in love this morning.

If they had said he was backed and hacking out quietly etc (and if he was closer) I’d be so tempted, but I did a lousy job of backing BBP and ended up with a crazy creature who kyboshed all my best laid plans, so I think my skills are not up to taking on another unknown quantity. But if someone else here could buy him and just let me look at him regularly....

I’m going to go into hiding so I can’t see the pretty pony any more. One of you lot will have to buy him.

(I did this with bbp, saw picture, loved picture, couldn’t afford, didn’t need a 3yo and a few months later he popped up for sale again and it was game over)

Same with Mim - I saw her, loved her but timing was wrong. Then when I was looking, I found her owner and emailed just in case there was any chance she was considering selling - and she was!

If it’s meant to be, it will happen.

I wonder if he would trade it for a neurotic border collie? I might have a bit more time for ponies if I didn’t now run my life around the dog!

I saw him, loved him, went on the website - big mistake - there are some ridden ones they're selling. I've always wanted an Arab - says she with 1 26 yr old ID/Conn and one mainly broken as soon as work is mentioned - or anything she doesn't want to do - really sharp QH/TB - I mean another is obvs the way to go isn't it !!!

His gorgeous and they breed some lovely Arabs there, I have always dreamed of going there and bringing one home your very naughty putting that link up!

I quite like the smaller Arabs I have one at just under 15h and a 15.3, I much prefer the feel of the smaller one his more compact I think I just prefer them to ride in general.

Oh my days! He is really rather beautiful!

To further influence you to buy....! I have a young Arab and I have to say he is WONDERFUL , he is pretty level headed and just a lovely soul.

I saw him advertised and fell in love instantly but had sworn i would get a horse with more bone this time, that didn't quite pan out! I went to the dealer and avoided his stable but eventually gave in and went over, well it was game over, i had him vetted 2 days later ?

POA with this stud wouldn't put me off. Nice horse. I would set a limit, ring, say I was just looking for a riding horse and see what he asked. He has several for sale and I guess needs to offload some.

Sunni is on his web site. All the horses for sale on there have their breeding listed except Sunni. Why? Doesn't he know? is he for sale on behalf of someone else. Obviously there is some explanation. Could be a good riding prospect at a good price for someone. :D I am keeping OH well away from this advert. :D

They are advertising a nice 2yr old for £1500 so he cant be that expensive. Ring them.
That one has an injury so they said it can only be expected to be a light hack. To be honest for me it’s the monthly cost and cost in time rather than the initial outlay. I buy expecting to have it for the next 30 years which makes my brain go ?

I absolutely love their horses too, and he is one I've been sorely tempted by. However, I'm really put off by the no prices thing, too. I have made an email enquiry before but they've rung me back to discuss prices and I chickened out of answering the phone call. I really didn't want to embarrass myself by being told the horses were totally out of my budget.

Ah, I did think it was odd that that one had a price and nothing else did.

but you are not embarrassing yourself. They are a stud with youngsters to sell. I expect they would like lots of money for all of them but they are not going to get that. They are going to have to sell for what they can get.
If they want 4k and will only come down to 3.5k and you can only offer 2k then all you have to do is tell them your offer. If you don't want to say it on the phone then just say you will think about it and then later (give them a bit of time) e mail them as an after thought with your offer. Sometimes they come back more realistically.
You know nothing about them. It may be due to their current circumstances (at any time) they will accept a lower figure to avoid looking after a youngster for much longer or they simply need the money.
Always worth a try. Sometimes you end up with an incredible horse.

I’d always call up about a horse if I liked the look of it, no need to be embarrassed. I’m also happy to barter, but I always do it in a nice way and would never tell a seller their horse isn’t worth what they are asking. A ‘I seem to have champagne tastes on Prosecco budget’ approach tends to break the ice

POA is usually on expensive horses. Could also be due to the seller only wanting to entertain serious buyers. Could weed out some less serious or time wasters perhaps.

For a personal horse I would say it could give some flexibility. If you like the sound of the buyer, you out put a fair price, if not, you put a stupid high price. The only problem is when that person goes around telling people you want 30k for a 15k horse. So could deter people and make you seem to be an unreasonable seller.

Idk why people aren't straight forward about it. But I usually shop in the sub 10k range anyway.

I also think a seller with a POA on a horse ad can expect for a few inquiries and a "that's above my budget" The seller could then ask what your budget is and the bartering goes from there. My point is, you never know. If you like the horse, ask.
