I will have another go, hopefully more successfully this time.

Are they a shiny example of a long term shod horse with great feet - no

But they aren’t horrific under the circumstances described. And very typical of event horses I’m afraid/embarrassed to admit.

There are improvements possible with shoeing I suspect, but equally would need to be evaluated as part of the overall horse conformation and hoof X-rays.

I very much hope her farrier hasn’t been identified without their permission on the thread because a professional relationship with such a SM visible ‘personality’ would definitely need stage managing.

If it’s true this horse / any horse is crippled if they loose a shoe then this would be the biggest concern if it were mine.

I wonder if Shouty Vet will ever consider whether there is a reason why Mabel finds it hard to take more weight on her hind legs/engage, and whether using a harsher bit is actually going to exacerbate whatever the underlying problem is over time.

The horse is never wrong about what they find difficult or unpleasant, and there is ALWAYS a reason.

Eh? You've lost me.

Of course someone is allowed to use another farrier at anytime, for any reason.

I just expressed sympathy with the stand in farrier for being named publicly & their work commented on.
Shouty vet has previously implied that her clients may not use the services of another vet practice even in an emergency situation (I’d presume if she’s specifically arranged cover then that would be ok but not if she hasn’t seems to be the vibe) & so AmyMay was pointing out the hypocrisy of using an alternative professional herself when her usual one isn’t available rather than delaying until he is which allegedly seems to be what she expects from her own clients

She doesn’t like it when people use another vet if she’s not available. But it obviously doesn’t work both ways.

The stand inn farrier was in a no win situation. The regular farrier has not anything good for that poor horses feet. Its heels are so under run that I'm suprised it's not dead lame even when it doesn't throw a shoe.

In the last but one photo of Mabel's faces, it really looks like the corner of her mouth has/has had some damage :( . It looks like it two photos back too so it's hard to argue the case that it's a trick of the light or something :( . You can only see the left side, not sure if it's the same on the right.

Oh gosh, I don't know the woman, other than from HHO threads. I think we are picking holes now. It is a slight mark, not like a lacerated lip or anything. I have inadvertently caused this on an eventer when she was keen and I needed to keep us safe. I'm not saying it's right but it is very minor in the grand scheme of things.

I dislike her tone and abhor the Go Fund Me thing, but this it really poking holes in what is a harmless post on someone's FB, IMO.

It's interesting that people have picked over feet which are pretty normal in any livery yard and a mark on a photo that may or may not be anything, but not mentioned the truly atrocious fit of the saddle on Alfred yesterday.

I didn't notice any of it, but now you've pointed it out it's obvious, even to a non-expert like me. I wonder who fitted it?

It was nice to see her posting worming advice just for her to follow up in the comment section saying she doesn’t have time to reply further to 500 comments as to what wormer they should use in summer and they should google it.

She does have time however to reply to posts of adoration of her, just not giving advice to other folk. 🙄

I scrolled past the picture of the horse with a saddle on but now it’s been pointed out even I don’t like it and I’m far from an expert.

It doesn't need much of an expert to know that doesn't fit. If that picture is a true representation (and they sometimes aren't), then that saddle would need a big back riser to bring it level. I suspect that it's actually too narrow and that the front needs to drop as well as the back come up. As it is, it's placing far too much weight into the back of the saddle, and likely to be pinching at the front.

I would post something diplomatic about it being possible the saddle doesn't fit, but it would either be deleted or she would use it as a plug to try and get a new one from a sponsor, so I won't.

Is that the bay that looked rather upset in the clinic video?

I agree with you. He actually looks to have a rather high wither, so she would really need a saddle with a cut back head to allow for widening the front but not then dropping onto his wither. In that photo he doesn't have a huge amount of clearance as is.

Hasn't she already admitted they need new saddles but she spent so much money on the horse with the hole in his foot that she couldn't afford them? Again truly terrible from any influencer but especially a vet to continue to ride and compete in badly fitting saddles but she does like to disregard the many things that she does that could cause problems for her horse's and I guess she's holding out for a sponsor to provide new saddles.
