I'm not normally a fan of all things crossed with a 'poo' but

This has got to be one of the cutest dogs that ever walked the earth. Springer cross poo.

Lord knows how much he was originally sold for but he's now found himself rehomed bless him. He's quite naughty by all accounts, which is no surprise. A lot of 'poos' are as people forget poodles have a very good brain. Combine that with a springer and gawd help you :)

Mines a cockapoo! Absolutely mental and far too clever for her own good.

I took her to gun dog training the other day as even at 7 months she needs something more to challenge her mentally and the trainer is a very traditional cocker lover but he even said she had a little something ? I think that something is a whole lotta floof ?

i havent found anything crossed with a poodle appeals to me. if they have the poodle type coat i dont like the feel of it...i am likely to be in the minority considering how many of them there are, we have loads round here and only a couple of them are trained enough to be off lead, many of the others are very fearful and some are quite aggressive. i know its not the dogs fault but people buy a fluffy thing as a first dog and most of them are too lively for only having a short lead walk, they need to let off steam and have plenty of exercise...i think you can tell i am not impressed :(

This exactly! Barge pole comes to mind ???

I never know why people don’t just have poodles, they are cracking little dogs and all this bloody ridiculous crosses really serve no purpose at all
When I was looking for my first dog, after 18 years of nagging my hubby, I was thinking of a poodle cross but I wanted something that doesn’t moult, a lot of poodle crosses still moult, and love the poodle temperament and intelligence, so I though why not just get a poodle ??

Looking at the history of this boy it looks like this is exactly what’s happened here. Floofy puppy purchased, not had enough to do. Developed terrible guarding issues then eventually bit someone in the house so had to go. He’s only 12 months old bless him.

You can only hope he gets a better home this time around.

To be fair, most dogs nowadays serve no purpose, other than to be family dogs and companions.

Yes, but because people are breeding for looks alone/selecting breeding animals on aesthetics and not character, a lot of crosses don't have the temperament for that, either.
Dogs bred for a 'purpose' generally have to have a temperament which suits that purpose and that can have benefits for/filters down to, the pet market.

I wouldn't have any of the poo crosses around me as a gift, they're all extremely reactive/insecure/environmentally sensitive.
And as mentioned, big issues with resource guarding.

If anyone wants a Poo dog I know of one going free. Just let me know when you are arriving and I'll nip over the fence into my neighbours garden and grab him! He's super, not house trained, actually not trained at all as owner is gong to take two weeks off work and train him in those two weeks. He loves his voice and will use it from five in the morning until late evening, a joy to have around. I think it is a cocker poo thingy but he's free so who cares!;) I am obviously joking( I thinko_O) but wouldn't have one if you paid me.

As someone with a poo cross (cockerpoo x corgi) and also dog groomer who sees a huge number of poo crosses on a weekly (daily!) basis, I genuinely meet very few as you have described.
To be honest, the most reactive type breeds who come through my doors are westies, Shih Tzu’s and yorkies.

All breeds began as a cross at some point.

Mine must be broken then because we took her to my parents for a NYE party at 10 weeks old with fireworks, crowded house with disco lights, loud music, lots of people wanting to cuddle her etc and she wasn't phased at all. We have made a point of exposing her to as much as possible as early as possible and so far has never shown any inclination towards resource guarding or being reactive.

I think the issue is more unsuitable first time owners that tend to buy poo crosses for the cute appeal and fail to grasp they have a cross from two working breeds so do not exercise/train/mentally stimulate appropriately.

Oh my goodness please can I see a photo of your cockerpoo x corgi? A corgi is my absolute dream dog but I have resigned myself to wait until we have more land as understand they can be quite "vocal" haha.

She looks nothing like most people expect. She is the most friendly, kind and loving dog we’ve ever had. She’s a real people person but also loves other dogs. There is not one bad bone in her and I would trust her with anyone.

I guess you're all missing the bit where I said AROUND ME :)
I personally wouldn't take any ten week old pup into the situation described, but each to their own.

As I typed it I thought I bet someone says this;). But each to their own eh, I know my pup is well socialised and not scared of anything (except cows) so I'm happy with my choices. She had a wonderful evening lapping up the attention and if at any point in the evening I thought she was distressed I would have left straight away :)

the people on here who have these poo crosses are what i would call proper dog people so i wouldnt expect them to have a badly behaved, aggressive, food guarding monster. i meet a couple of friends who have poo crosses and they are both well exercised and trained. both are off lead and obedient, actually more than my terrier cross who is going through a deaf stage and pushing me as far as he can, little monster.. but the others seem to have pathetic owners who have no idea how much exercise and training the dogs need...and so the dogs are not socialised and dont even seem to be able to walk on the lead without pulling the owners all over the place, drives me mad...

I’m wondering what the people around you are doing for their dogs to turn out like you have described!

To be honest, I used to be a bit snobby about the ‘poo’ type breeds. But then I realised it was simply the ridiculous naming that got to me, as I have actually always loved cross breeds.
The more time I spend around poo type breeds, the more I love them! I’d say the various poo crosses make up about 60% of my client base.

well they are round me as well!!!!! yes i hate the fancy names whats wrong with poodle cross or cocker spaniel cross, which is what they are. i have only ever had one pure bred and that was my deerhound (my favourite breed) all my others have been various crosses ..
