This is Willow

I can't forget Willow..................who forgets Willow ;)

Lots of nicknames, most of them derogatory including; Little Cowbag, Little S**T, PUT THAT DOWN NOW, Winky, Willa

Willow came to be via my friend Dot who runs boarding kennels and kennels for various rescues, including daschund and springer rescue. Anyways, Willow was actually in boarding but her owners had decided they didn't really want her anymore but were planning on having a litter of puppies from her, just to make a bit of money. Dot can be very persuasive (!) and they agreed this wasn't such a good idea and the owners signed her over.

I then got a phone call that went along the lines of, "if you're passing, I've got a really pretty springer bitch you will love. You need to come and have a look but she's only got 3 good feet and she's proper lame on the bad foot".

When I first met her she was REALLY lame and wasn't using her back nearside leg at all. At the time, it almost looked fused in a locked up position, if that makes sense. Nobody really knew what was going on with the leg / foot so she was booked straight into the vets. Her foot had a massive fungal infection and (sadly) she has luxating patellas, one of which was operated on but it still dislocates.

A WARNING TO ALL - Willow has never grown to the size she should be. The reason - being in a crate that was too small for her 23 hours a day because her previous owners just 'couldn't be bothered' and it was easier to just shut her away all the time.

Long term, her boney issues and her cruciate ligament issues mean she will never enjoy proper off lead walks for the rest of her life. It just puts too much stress on her poorly developed knees. She does however LOVE swimming and we will resume this activity as soon as lockdown is lifted. I also have a massive back garden that she runs in. She's a happy girl, that has coped well with everything life has thrown at her so far. She can be a damned nuisance but she is totally adored by everyone who comes across her :)

These are my two girls. Ruby is the black & white, we think she is a jack x cocker - completely crazy. She was dumped aged about 6 weeks when I adopted her. She was so tiny she could sit in my hand. Jade is the fawn and white. Not sure of her breeding but we think she is a Norfolk or Norfolk X. Again, she was a rescue, not socialised never played, and a complete nightmare when I got her. Both are now really friendly happy soles. Ruby is 10 now and Jade we think she is 8

This is Ellie. She's 5 and a half, GSD x Rottie and my first dog. Also known as Bogdog, Grothound, Twiglet, Mrs Thing.... she gets a lot of random names!

She came to me from rescue when she was about 18 months, and she's been quite a learning curve! She loves to run, jump, explore and chase bunnies and squirrels. And dive in bogs, swamps and really stinky puddles. Loves people once she's been introduced, but can be a grumpy baggage with other dogs when we're out and about - especially if they get in her face. But she's fabulous and I adore her! IMG_20200430_120149~01.jpgIMG_20200419_202412~01.jpg

This is Dobby, he's about 4, born deaf, whippet x god knows what lurcher. He is really good at recall, hates nervous dogs and people, doesn't like people wearing hats or sunglasses and has a pathological hate of overweight people which makes explaining why he's barking madly and loudly - he can't hear himself - at them fun.

And yes he does love socks.

I have another but I can't load more pics so will put him on in a moment.

The hats thing is very odd, one of mine does that, I think we frightened some cyclists in the woods who stopped to say hello but were all helmeted up. ? He also used to bark madly at anyone who wasn’t white, great fun in our area! Fortunately, he grew/was trained out of the barking.

I always thought as he's deaf he relies on seeing people's faces more to know if they're ok or not ? Or it reminds him of the people who had him before - he was found just after Christmas one year homeless in Bristol - probably about 4 months old.

My dog Cedric. He is a staff x parsons terrier. He can be pretty hyper. He is 10 years old and still acts like a puppy.
He can be quite nervous, Hates water, loves running. He hates dogs he doesn't know but is fine once he knows them.
When I first got him my friend thought his name was Frederick. So he gets called Frederick, fredders, cedders or Ced.
He is a brillant dog, loves to go for a walk but also happy to just cuddle up on the sofa with me.
Last year I broke my ankle and was stuck at home for 12 weeks and I live in the middle of no where. I don't know how i would have coped without him ?

I have an 11yr old working cocker and a 6yr old Greyhound.
The cocker is Sam, he came with the name when I got him from his breeders at 8 months old, he doesn’t really have nicknames apart from Samuel if he’s being naughty (Although now he is deaf that’s pointless anyway!!) or SamuelSpaniel
My agility group did call him Mad Sam but unfortunately we had to retire his from that a few years ago due to an injury but to be honest he was useless at it anyway as everything had to be at 100 miles an hour!

Star again came as Star, well Shadow Star officially, she was found over in Ireland, not in great shape and so was rehabbed there before coming over to Kent Greyhound Rescue to be rehomed. We’re not that close to Kent but when I called them they were super helpful and allowed us to bring Sam to meet the dogs and well Sam picked Star, he wasn’t interested in any of the others but as soon as she walked out he brightened up and wanted to play with her, so that was that!
She is now more commonly know as Bean, she even answers to it! We started to call her little bean then Beanie and now it’s just Bean!
hopefully, I can attach a couple of photos of the two monsters!
