What do other people do? I need to take my phone out hacking in case something goes wrong, but if it just shuts down as soon as I take it out (like it did today) then there’s no point taking it! Are there any solutions?
Not totally about phones, mine does shut down occasionally on cold weather but I am going to re think my safety whilst hacking alone as when I had my fall I was completely paralysed (temporary) but I could not access my phone to ring anyone. Luckily I was with a friend.
My old iPhone does this - I keep in a glove in my pocket which helps but also have a pound land power bank & cable in my pocket to recharge if needed
I use a Rider SOS app, if I don't move for a minute it sets of an alarm within the phone. I then tap the phone and it is quiet (if I had just stopped for a chat etc). If no one taps the phone it contacts my husband by text, also giving him a map with me pinpointed to within 10ft.
So, if hacking alone I tell him so he has his phone on me.
I have had a couple of false alarms where I have forgotten to turn it off, but when he has received the text and map he has been surprised that I am in danger... in the tack room... so he has called me and I have just felt silly.
Glad you were with a friend.
I think the app was £4.99.
Mine will be on, for example, 40% battery and I’ve got it out on a very cold night and it suddenly goes to 5% when I press a few things and then turns off.
