Earlier a woman just stood and watched and said nothing as their mini Schnauzer dawdled into my old dog's face. I redirected my own dog's head away with my hand and directed his body away with my knee, saying 'No, no, no' to random woman's dog.

It's the equivalent of Mummy letting Little Johnny in P1 wander up to Big Bazza in sixth form, who is in a mood, being held back by his best mate, saying 'leave it out'....and doing nothing.

Whilst I suspect that 'attacking a person' is probably the other dog owner sticking their hand in and getting bitten, I'm sorry but that's a dog that needs put in someone's car and taken on a one-way trip. Even if it's to the pound. If the police won't do something....

I have to say that I agree. The owners have proved time and time again they aren’t responsible enough to own it.

Earlier this week.

I was walking my two sighthounds, both on lead, along a footpath that runs between a narrow strip of woodland and an industrial estate.

A man and an off lead dog are heading our direction. I get my two off the footpath, a few feet into the wood. They are both in a sit, waiting for their sweet, paying no attention to the other dog.

The man then says to me 'there's no point doing that. My dog is still going to want to come over and say hello'

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I responded by telling him that my black bitch is a savage who will almost certainly bite, so I suggest he puts his dog on a lead. He grabbed it pretty sharp after that 🤣

She would not have bitten, but she would have been uncomfortable and told the other dog off had it invaded her space, but if I had just said that, then he would probably have just chuckled and said something ridiculous like 'oh well that might teach him/her a lesson!' Or 'it will do him/her good to get told off'.

Eugh.

@Jenko109 that made me groan and chuckle at the same time... last weekend I was out walking and a couple of blokes with a huge black dog hollered at me from a distance 'is your dog friendly?'... to which I yelled back 'no!' And headed off in a different direction. She's fine, but we have zero need to meet in those circumstances. I suppose at least they asked!

What the hell is it with people and mini Schnauzers? Just had another couple who let one come up and bark in my old dog's face. No apology or anything, just an ineffectual 'Generic name - bad dog'.

And there's a man who walks one up and down past my house, I say walk, I mean a snail on the back of a tortoise would go faster, he stood and let his dog stand and bark at my young female through the garden gate and she went ballistic, still didn't hurry himself or call his bloody dog away.

Was too busy wrestling Angry Bird into the back garden to be honest. I'm sure in his opinion he was just walking along minding his own business. I personally get embarrassed when my dog barks at others, I should maybe just style it out like everyone else seems to 😅

Dogs Trust need to give their head a shake. Reading through the descriptions of some of the dogs and you think nope, nope, just nope, definitely nope.

For example:

Caucasian Shepherd. ..... would love a private secure garden that has solid fencing due to her breaking fencing panels down previously due to her being a giant breed and very strong, she will also need a home where no one can walk past the fencing especially in the back garden as she can be wary of strangers. She will need to be the only dog in the home with no cats

Hopefully a shepherd in the Caucasus will see her ad and give her a home

Irresponsible rehoming - this dog was rehomed by the Dogs Trust less than a month ago

Funnily enough a dog I saw on their website on Friday called Chipper, who DT described as an American Bulldog, but in my opinion looked like a pitbull with poor impulse control and an incident waiting to happen, seems to have disappeared from their list of dogs for rehoming.
