Is this the very worst rug on ebay, ever ????

Hahaha this thread made me laugh so hard at the start. I took it as just a joke tbh; found it quite funny and uplifting for once. I don't care if someone wants to buy a rug or not; up to them tbh, I would probably have gone for it at around the £15 mark.

Just a bit of good fun IMO; don't take life so seriously folks ;)

I asked her a Q about this rug and said that the advert had made me smile today... :)

sadly her response back to me was indeed as FILTHY as the rug she was trying to sell lol

Personally I find rugs lose their waterproof after being washed even with treatment. I'd rather buy a dirty rug which did its job then a clean one which leaked.

In the end all rugs end up the same anyway- mud coloured! :p

You could put a patch on it. :p

I had a rug last year that had so many patches we weren't sure what was original rug and what was patching!

I wouldn't sell a ripped rug though but have no problem selling a dirty one.

I don't doubt that the thread started as lighthearted bit of fun.

I remember the posts about jodphurs being sold as worn by Linda Parelli, i won't even tell you where that thread went and it got locked!

However, for those who decided it would be a laugh to be rude to the seller and make comments, i give you a round of applause for confirming that the horse world is a bitchy snobby place to be.

FYI the postage came to £8 as the rug arrived this morning, so anyone selling one whatever condition bear that in mind, you will have learnt something on this thread.

The rescue centres in this country are crying out for rugs, they are also desperate for and grateful for anything they receive. Think about that the next time you chuck away, we live in a throw away society these days.

I'm not going to go into my whys anymore than i've said a 2yr old will not get a new rug, it will be outgrown in months, and the one that has arrived will be repaired by me ( i learnt to sew at school) and thanks for the sensible reply of where i can get the patches from. Being 2 yrs old she will trash it, if she uses it as it's my spare. It doesn't need to be 100% waterproof it's a lightweight rug, for spring showers.

As far as i recall lightweights have never been waterproof just showerproof.

You can get new lightweights for much less than £60, in our shop we often have rug sales with 50% off all rugs meaning you can pick up a brand new lightweight for £17.00

Fair play to you, when i got my girl she was three and a half and very scrawny. I bought brand new rugs, granted not very expensive but more expensive than this obviously, needless to say shes outgrown all of them, and trashed a few on the way lol. I love buying new rugs im a bit of a spendaholic but had I been thinking about the fact she would grow out of them so quick i probably would of got some second hand ones.

I'm a real fan of buying online but am trying to support our local saddlery which just changed hands. They are really trying to make a go of it and have had a rug sale to draw in some customers... I got a brand new l/w turnout for £12.49! Couldn't believe it. They had lovely wool fleece rugs for £7.99 but unfortunately not my horse's size.
