I know loads of people have different opinons about what weather is alright to turnout horses out in. rain, cold ect and now heat ?

swallow's out and will be in tonight :)

so is your horse out in the lovely sunshine ?

Mine decided that it was too hot and have made it very evident they wish to come into the yard and stand around under the trees and the stable overhangs - and poke around in the places they haven't managed to get into yet as we haven't been here that long.

We have cleared out the barn the sheep have been in so that we can fill it with hay and that has caused lots of interest, with all the horses having to inspect it and have a good look out of each window. Reminded me of having "Open Day" viewings for houses:D

Mine is in. Her usual routine during the summer is in during the day and out overnight to get her off the grass, but even if it wasn't she would be in today as she can get badly sun burnt (and sun cream irritates her sensitive skin) and there isn't any shade in her field. She will go back out at about 5pm.

Mine are both out with natural shelter if they want it. They are in at night for different reasons so spend all day out whatever the weather.

One of mine is out as he's having a day off there's plenty of shade in the field, he'll come in later for his balancer. Other is in as he comes in during the day anyway as is a fatty and has sweet itch and in this heat he just gets too hot with his rug on.

Mine are in today as its so hot and the flies were making a nuisance of themselves. They don't have any shade in their paddock and were quite happy to come in. They will go back out about 5pm.

In today as it gets them out of the flies and off the grass for a bit. Generally they are out 24/7 in the summer though. Only in during the day when really hot or lots of flies.

My boy is in during the day and out at night but that's his usual summer routine. He is a very very good doer.

Mine live out 24/7 all year round. They have excellent shade from heavy tree cover one one side of the field that they stand under during the heat of the day....

We are lucky that we don't seem to suffer from too many flies as well.....

In today out at the night. He has no shade in his paddock and was more than willing to come in and have a bath and then have a soaked haynet to keep him company for a few hours he'll go back out at about 5pm when its cooler and the flies aren't about as much.

My two boys are out 24/7 as they have natural shelter, just watching them & they just going for a little sleep under the trees .

Mine are still on the normal schedule. Out 20 hours a day in different places and in for 4. Going to bringing them in shortly.

Not sure if anyone saw the fuss being made about the mustangs in America recently on FB. At any rate science and research suggest the horses can tolerate the heat without shade so long as they have water and salt. Those temps are hoovering around 48.

Flies are not that bad. Where I come from flies are bad. They stand in their little groups with tail swatters from the other each and are fine. They have some shelter too. It's not really that bad and there is a little breeze. They want me to think they're dying.

Out as always. Was going to keep one in overnight as have an early start but decided he'd be happier out in the cool breeze (hurrah for being near the sea!)

Mine are out, they dislike being in. We have a huge amount of natural shelter, and the old girl who used to really struggle seems fine, which is great. At 16 she used to come in in the heat, as she used to look like she had heat stroke, but seems to no longer worry, maybe its just we have better shade now!

Mine fare better out. The paddocks are on a hill and get a breeze in parts, so they stand under the trees when they want a break from the sunshine.

My lad is out as usual but he has access to his field stable at all times and is spending a lot of time in there away from the flies and heat.

Mine are out 24/7 in the summer, have free access to the field shelter (once they have kicked the sheep and bullocks out)! And plenty of tree cover as well. Rocky has his fly rug on as he suffers a bit with sweet itch, the little uns are fine without!
