Hello, i'm new to horse&hound, so bare with me:)

Anyway i decided to have a look at my tb's bloodlines today and i was pretty amazed. Her grandad is Generous ( won epsom and irish derbys) and her great great grandad Nijinksky (who won the triple crown).
Is anyone elses ponio related to anyone famous??:)

Mine is by Royal Applause (one of the current royal stallions) and going back a bit his great grandad was a US champion... :-) Its great to see where they come from...:D

My mare is related to some US greats from the 70s and 80s namely Alydar and Seattle Slew, she's also related to Nijinski and War Admiral (and through him back to Man O'War) Alydar, Seattle Slew and War Admiral were all famously temperamental and my mare is continuing this tradition! :D

I'm not so familiar with my gelding's pedigree, I am given to understand his sire (Bijou D'Inde) was a good runner and also his dam's sire (Ballad Rock) but I am not sure. He's a nice sort though so I expect they were too.

Nijinsky is my mare's grandsire (Millie in sig)!
Millie is kindoff Molly's great auntie:D This is Molly (don't know if it will work):

I found Mollys lines on equineline.com all you need is the dams name and dob.:)

Nijinsky is in pretty much every single TB's pedigree somewhere at least once.

In racing although the Sire is important you don't really count relatives by that you count them from the Dam's side.

3 of mine are well related on the Dam's side.

Kyle's maternal grand dam was Shergar's full sister.

Laurel's big brother is Mister Hardy who won listed races and £100k. His wee brother is Wootton Bassett who exploded onto the scene as a 2yo last year winning all 5 starts, including a Group 1 race and in excess of £500k.

Gray's year older full sister is one of America's sweethearts of her era. Honey Ryder won over $3million, numerous Graded and Group races and competed in 3 Breeders Cups - 2nd twice and 3rd once - all within half a length of Britains best - Ouija Board.

Jeff's dam's side throws nothing special in the racing world. His father sired a couple of good winners over fences including Gingembre who won the Scottish Grand National.

My wee mare also has Northern Dancer bloodlines. Her grandsire (fathers side) was Nureyev (by ND) and he is even on Wikipedia. Apparently Nureyev was bought as a yearling for $1.3 million!! Had a laugh when I read that and thought of my wee beach donkey! Its amazing how a lot of the pedigrees go back to the early 1700s.
Her grandsire on her mothers side was In Fijar but dont really recognise any famous names on his pedigree.

My mares great great grandad on her fathers side is secreteriat (won the tripple crown 3 times) and saddlers wells is in there too. There are quite a few more but cant remember off the top of my head. Just goes to show just cause they have good lines doesnt mean they will be good themselves

My Mares (Broadstone Westside) sire is Broadstone West Country who is a grade 1 Stallion with Weltmeyer bloodines and all round Grand Prix Dressage super star.
Her Dam is Racing Silk.

I have traced her ancestors right back to the 1700's, its fascinating. When you get back to the days before photography, there are actually paintings of her ancestors:)

I had no idea she was so special when we bought her.

Wow Kyles pedigree is very impressive, I take it he is a gelding and not a mare

I remember Gingembre who was a very useful horse

My Boy (Sentinelese) is by Cape Cross. Who was a group 1 winner and has Danzig, Northern Dancer bloodlines. That makes him a 1/2 brother to recent greats such as Sea the Stars and Ouija Board.
On his dam's side he also has Danzig, Northern Dancer bloodlines and Bold Ruler the sire of triple crown winner Secretariat.

My lad is by Mark of Esteem (multiple Group 1 winner) and his paternal grandparents include Darshaan, Shirley Heights and Mill Reef. His mother was by Busted who was also a Group 1 winner and he often shows up in the pedigrees of lots of eventers too.

I love having a TB and the fact you can trace everything back hundreds of years. :D

I know i love it!:D Molly's great grandaddies are shirley heights and millreef:)

Just read that Nureyev is in my mares lines too, it's her great grandsire on her dams lines.
Her dam is Princess Latifa (Wolfhound) and her sire is Monsieur Bond (Danehill Dancer)

My horses Grandad was Ballinvella, his great great great grandad was Nasrullah and he goes back to War Admiral and Man 'O War.
And on his dam side i can trace him right back to the Byerly Turk.

Yup, Kyle is a gelding else he would never have made into my possesion :D

Going through the Sire of my lads Jeff only has 1 dose of Northern Dancer as he is a Selle Francais.

Kyle's Sire is Vettori who is by Machiavelllian who is Mr Prospector then Raise A Native then Native Dancer. He has 2 rounds of Native Dancer, 2 Northern Dancer's, 2 Sir Ivor's and 2 different rounds of the mare Natalma.

Laurel's pedigree is quite intriguing. He is by Warning whose sire is of no normal bloodlines but his dam! She is out of Where You Lead who is the grand mother of Rainbow Quest - one of my all time favourite TB's. Warning's Dam is by Sadler's Well who is my favourite TB to ever exist. The only known Sire on the Dam's side is Danzig 3 back.

Gray's Sire's line goes into Northern Dancer, Brigadier Gerard, Secretariat and thus Bold Ruler. His Dam's line has 2 different versions of Native Dancer. Otherwise he is purely American bloodlines that rarely crossed the pond.

Mine are related to Eclipse and they aren't even tb's ;)

Being serious, all mine are related (like so many of their breed) to either/or both Three Bars and Impressive, not well known in the UK, but very influential in North America.
