We are at the very start of our dressage and have managed a few unaffiliated comps at intro and prelim (63% at our first prelim and we lost alot of marks on the canter work as needs alot of work!) but a lot of 7s , the judges seem to love him and we have a very positive comments, he's a fully registered welsh D 6 years old with very little milage 9had him since he was 6 months old), the finer type, he also has lovely paces and moves beautifully. Pony is very green but we are about to start having regular lessons and planning on joining BD ready for October in time for the winter season
We have hired a trailer, found an awesome venue and have made a bit of extra time for competing and aiming to get out around 1 - 2 x per month. My ultimate aim is petplan and maybe regionals one day! At the end of the day i just want to have fun competing him
So, i am planning on turning him out plaited and trimmed up. So, hoping to wear my navy jacket and white stock. I don't want to go all out and be all the gear no idea, we are starting at the very beginning!! so, would it look okay if we went for white jods, plain black boots, navy jacket - i currently have a dublin one which is plain navy, velvet collar with silver buttons, had it a while so looking to replace soon as could do with a new one but before investing am going to see how we get on first!), white stock, - gloves - i don't really want white so was thinking maybe black or navy or would this look odd?! horse will be plaited (he's very dark bay with 3 long stockings and a blaze, black tack (dressage saddle) white square, patent cavesson noseband (its subtle with black lining and not overly wide) a thin 1/2" crystal browband in gold and clear. Never been to an affiliated dressage comp before so any other tips would be good!! Also anything i buy i need to make sure it lasts us a while!
Thank you!!
