Our puppy decided to try and eat a bee this evening... she ended up with the sting lodged in her lip and went absolutely mental if we tried to remove it. Ended up taking her to the out of hours vet hospital. It took 3 of us to remove the sting and we were one more attempt away from having to sedate her, which the vet didn’t want to have to do. Fortunately he got it out. She had an antihistamine jab and a painkiller too and is now snoring away on the couch next to me. I was meant to be out for a meal tonight to celebrate my sister-in-laws birthday, but needless to say I didn’t make it.

Hoping that she’s learnt her lesson about bees!

More ad hoc XC training today. Plus successfully loaded opinionated ponio myself there and back within 10 minutes, I call that a win! L was a super pony and tried some 80cm jumps fresh from our local international event last weekend. Was lots of fun! Super pleased for only her second time out cross country :D

A lovely outing with Tamba at a rather damp Cirencester. Thankfully the weather eased, and boy did the ground cope well!
Our dressage was better, with a very annoying wrong canter costing us quite dearly, but going in the right direction.
Showjumping and xc were proper up to height courses, with people saying the xc was similar to West Wilts 90 the other week. It jumped really well and he flew round giving me the most amazing ride. He is a pleasure to jump always giving his all and he clearly loves it! A few people did comment on him and really liked him.

Will post a pic when I can get one off OH’s phone but had a slightly stressful xc outing today. F was tense and unsettled and it knocked my confidence. I decided that just getting him to settle and soften might be enough of a win for the day. We didn’t really get into our rhythm properly as I rode like a tool but he did settle and we did ok. He was full of beans all the way through though so maybe the extra oats are having an impact?!

I finally managed to hack, though my planned beach visit was ruined by a tree down across the track .

On the plus side my 'new' dressage saddle fits both of us quite nicely :). M is incredibly fat so I can only use a super thin pad with it right now but as she slims down and gets fitter it should fit very nicely!

Second outing at elementary today. I rode like a lemon and didn’t get the back end engaged enough so we had an unsteady contact sadly, but for the FIRST EVER TIME we got medium trot exactly where we were supposed to, smashed the medium canter and held the counter canter in both directions really well! So I’m pleased 😁

They cleared 1.73m to finish joint first.

Wow impressive, I'm 5'6 so that's well over my head. Congrats

I did virtually nothing but binge watch Netflix series (Santa Clarita Diet with Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore is hilarious btw) and go food shopping. I did buy a new iPhone 11 and still haven't quite figured out what the difference is between it and my old iPhone 7.
Fun run was cancelled (again) because of the weather and the horses were in for worming so I ended up riding quite a lot this weekend, fields were wet so no cantering, just hacking on the roads and I had an early Sunday morning clipping session which was much needed as Brieze seemed to go from sleek summer coat to woolly mammoth in the space of a week.

I love Santa Clarita Diet, it's really kooky.

Darcy and I ventured out for arena hire yesterday. The weather was wild - alternating between torrential rain and dazzling sunshine but all the time blowing an absolute hooley so I was pleased to have hired an indoor school this time ;)
He was *such* a good boy. He was a bit anxious on arrival cos everything was flapping around, and it was a bit of a mission to get the doors open and get us into the school because he found it all a bit spooky but once inside he relaxed and settled to work, ignoring the banging and clanking in the roof and barely peeping at anything.
He's turning into a horse that's nice to take out and about which is just lovely.

Deeply dull clips of us tootling around but I think he's coming along quite well considering the weak and crooked starting point. Still a long way to go with the canter but it has a nice easy balance so hopefully when we properly start working on it, he will make good progress. At the moment we're just getting into canter and getting out again ;) I should do it earlier in the session so he's not so tired - mental note made :D

our lesson was rained off :( so instead we scooted off to a friends indoor and ran through some test work ready for next weekend....

we wore allllll the pink and although the camera hated the lack of light im really pleased with the overall theme of me looking up and him being more uphill and open in front.

he's such a good egg, never fusses despite turning up at feeding time so lots of neighing and door kicking and general hub bub going on, just mooches in to the school and cracks on :)anna1.JPGanna2.JPGanna3.jpganna4.jpganna5.jpg

MP he's gorgeous...… My connie doesn't go like that and I've been schooling him for two years :(
but that IS all we can do :p he'd have a meltdown if I said he had to jump again!

Lucky you having a chestnut that can carry off pink, Hallo ;)

Kelsall did manage Fri & Sat before succumbing to the weather. Pleased with Reilee, warmed up well then a bit llamaish in dressage test but finished nicely. SJ was moved to surface which rode really well, just touched one rail - rideability improving every time. XC was pretty deep so picked out the better ground & looked after her a bit. Really pleased with her attitude & willingness in the conditions. Lovely easy clear.

Phoenix v cross with Reilee when she got home!

No more events for us now so will just enjoy riding them both for a bit, perhaps couple of fun rides before their break. Getting colder, darker & wetter...Will enjoy the good days when we get them!

Hallo, just a query why does your little fella need so many bandages on his legs ? Genuine question not a dig , I only ever use tendon boots if im jumping, and rarely if ever for schooling. So im genuinely curious as to why so much padding, what are the benefits ?

Home and mostly unpacked from Bury Farm BRC Champs.

Had a great weekend with our Club holding their own. Picked up an 8th in Novice pairs (new combo, so delighted), another member came 13th in a strong Novice class. Then Sunday in 0 points dressage Member came 6th, and Juniors came 10th and 11th respectively.

In the non music classes between us we got a 5th 2 x 6th, 10th and a winner in the native pony section.

Quadrille didn't go our way, but we had fun nevertheless.

i never ride without boots or bandages, young horses learning lateral work can just as easily stand on them self on the flat as when jumping :) and if they keep banging their legs they lose confidence in the work.

Henry and I had a very successful weekend eventing. It was hot and dusty, and Henry was a bit tense however he handled camping, a new place and busy warm ups like a star. He was so much more confident in all three phases, especially XC. He ate the course up but a pause at the bank meant we added 20 penalties. He just needed a good look and went as soon as he realised he needed to jump up. However it was a very competitive class and other people were having a tough day. We finished in 6th and got our first eventing frilly. So proud of my horse, he keeps getting better and better!

Nipped over to Morris for mid-week BD today. Raz hasn’t been out since July so I was pleasantly surprised with how chilled he was in both tests - we had zero spooking! 🙌🙌🙌😅

Halfpasses could have been better (left bend was almost non-existent for some reason 🤷‍♀️) so scores were a bit middle-of-the-road at 65.76 and 66.03 but good enough for first and second in section and first and third overall.

Really pleased as I could leave him to it instead of micromanaging (bad habit as he’s so spooky 🙈).
