Some of you may have seenthe vid of my daughter jumping her new pony recently.

Tuesday evening we were having a practice session over small spreads as a final preparation for her first comp on sunday.
Unfortuneately they both got it wrong big time taking off way to early and pony landed with hind feet on back rail. Stumbled badly on landing almost falling over. Daughter landed way up his neck. These 2 things upset pony who put in a huge leap as he regained his feet sending my daughter flying.
The crack was audible as she hit the deck. Dash to A&E and she has snapped both bones in her arm where they join her wrist and chipped her elbow.
They operated yesterday morning and manage to manipulate one of the bones back in to place as it had only moved a few millimetres. The other which had moved right across her arm wouldn't stay in place so it has had to be wired in.
Daughter has been brilliant about the whole thing despite the pain. Her only real concern is missing the show on sunday.
Hopefully she will be out of hospital friday. Wire has to be removed in 4 weeks time (general anestheic again) followed by 6 weeks in a cast then physio.
She's already talking about how soon she can ride again.
Really upset for her. She had worked so hard to overcome her nerves, get to grips with the pony and prepare for the show.

Hi from a fellow Northamptonian!

Really sorry to hear about your daughter, bless her that sounds awful. What a little trouper to only be worried about missing the show. Hope that she makes a full speedy recovery and is enjoying being back in the saddle soon.

You're not having much luck in your house at the moment are you

Hope your daughter makes a speedy recovery

That is awful, your poor daughter, and a complety freak thing to happen. At least it hasn't upset her. Wish her well

What a shame, sounds really nasty. Hope it doesn't affect her confidence (doesn't sound as if it has) and she is back riding again as soon as possible. At least there are a few weeks before school hols.

What a shame - they were looking so good but I guess that's horses for you!

Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear about her injuiring herself....but it's good that it hasn't dented her enthusiasm for the sport. She'll have this story to live off for years to come!

It seems theres a trend in arm breaking going on at the moment, what with Bbmat breaking his aswell

I feel really guilty now ,as I said try some spreads before going to a show as they are bound to have them .Please don't sue me.
I am so sorry for her she must talk to bbmat as he has broken his arm as well.
Claire broke her leg a couple of years back and had plates both sides ,so I know how you feel.
I hope she will mend quickly.

Ouch. Brave Girl. Swift recovery vibes from over here.
Will she be able to ride before summer vacation is over at all?

What a plucky little kid - I doubt much will get in her way in later life. Wishing her a speedy recovery so she can go and clean up in those jumping competitions.

was this the video of the little bay pony with the big white blaze ? jumped around a course of fences ? ?

Poor thing, and very being very brave ... speedy recovery to your daughter try not to blame yourself xx

So sorry to hear about this david. Please send your daughter our love. She was doing so well.
Perhaps if we chopped you off at the knee you could ride pony in the mean time?

Best wishes to your daughter for a speedy recovery, and I'm glad it seems like it hasn't affected her confidence too badly.

Horses have a knack of bringing people back to to earth with a bump just as things start looking good

Tell her I wish her a very speedy, uncomplicated recovery! At least she'll be home with you soon, being in hospital doesn't help you see the positive side of things.

Oh no! She's such a nice little rider too, but you can see the pony is rather pingy! Such a shame, hope she gets better soon. Its good news that she's wanting to get back on quickly though!

So sorry to hear about your daughter's accident - 10 weeks wired and plastered is really going to mess up her holidays. Rosie had a similar break (at a PC rally I think) on the first day of the summer holidays a few years ago and now has a rather smart scar on her wrist from where the wires were. I can't remember how long it was until she got back to riding but there've been no long term problems.
