Archie is my pride and joy. He is a fabulous happy hacker though I suspect in the right hands he could do so much more.

I am in turmoil. Whilst I adore and love him with all my heart, since starting my new job it has become evident I just cannot give him the time he deserves and to be very honest, since my accident, have lost my confidence to ride (I do ride but am not enjoying like I did).

I am seriously thinking about putting him on loan for the forseeable future to address two things - one to give him some well deserved attention and two - to give myself a break from beating myself up and feeling so guilty about everything. I have had a really bad headache and feel really sick and I think it is because I am worrying. I think of him standing in his field not being ridden and then think about riding but then all the butterflies start.

I have someone coming tomorrow to try him and that would mean him going out on loan and moving away. I am not sure thats what I truly want but then think its his happiness that is important, not mine.

If anyone is reading this that is in close vicinity to Petersfield and would ride out with me or would like to ride him to help me and him, please get in touch.

I just don't know what to do for the best.

Hope you find someone to help you out.

May not be a good idea to put your full postcode on here though, you don't know who may read it

get a sharer - if you get the right one then it could be fab - I think the most important thing is that you get on well with them as a person

ahh man shame I'm not in Pompey anymore I'd have snapped you up for him as am currently looking for a loan/share horse....can you PM me details as I still have lots of friends down that way that maybe able to help you out..

Getting a sharer seems like the best plan to me. Sort of a half way house before you decide if you want to put him out on a full loan. At least then you won't feel guilty about not riding him very much and he gets two mummy's to love him and spoil him.

Then if you decide to go for a full loan the sharer might take him on and you'll know that he's going to be happy.

Good luck

Ifyou don't find a share another option would be to take his shoes off and turn him away for the winter - lots of people do this and the horse really doesn't mind once they get into the groove.

In the Spring then see how much you have missed riding and what you want to do with your riding hopefully seem very clear. One option is with the saved £ you could then either have lots of lessons or just extra support to help you enjoy your horse.

I someone to help with my horses, she also hacks them out on their own - which has been amazing for their confidence and therefore mine as well. I am really suprised how much more I am enjoying my horses now they are regularly worked and I have someone who is really supportive in whatever I want to do!!!

I know how hard it is trying to let go.

My girly is up for loan too, as I am too big for her, and she can only really hack. I love her to pieces and thought she'd be with me forever. It's gutting to let her go, but I have to do it. I owe this little lady everything, which is why she is going out on loan and not for sale.

It's made even harder by idiotic timewasters that do not show up. Big hugs, hope you find someone fab x
