Look at my new cob!

All of our team ponies are hogged even though they are no remotely cob like- You'd be amazed how much less stress it is on show mornings! Ours never have had a problem with flies, although we do use fly spray liberally!

I think she looks sweet, and it will deffo. Make your life easier!

Blimey Sirena what had they done to his tail? I suppose it isn't so different in style to an elephants or a giraffes tail so fine for flies as nature has designed a few like that. But.... it looks awful.

Lol - I used to refer to it as a bog brush! Baby spanish horses have their tails completely shaved, the boys are then allowed to grow unfettered, the girls should always have the top half of their tails shaved. Needless to say, Sirena now has a full mane and tail, but my current broodmare Lluna has a 'trimmed' mane and I will take the top half of her tail off just before she foals, this is her sporting her haircut

If by hate brigade you mean me, I haven't come back as couldn't be arsed to argue. I also don't feel I have anything to defend myself about. I gave MHO others gave theirs end of. IMO some horses suit a hog and it doesn’t suit others. IMO this one doesn't have the neck for it, but if the OP likes it fine, I don't have to look at it everyday so it is no consequence to me either way.
 
I guess it is just strange as the typical image of a spanish horse (for non spanish people) is one with a long flowing mane and tail.

Personally I can't stand riding with long manes as they get in the way and luckily I never have to plait - so I can stick with a pulled mane. None of my horses have the neck for being hogged otherwise I might be tempted.

With the boys, yes, the spanish believe that it makes the mane grow longer, for the girls, because in spain, they tend to live out in herds, it just makes it easier to keep, the tails I totally understand because that is for hygiene and must do Lluna's soon

I hogged my hunter a few years ago because you couldn't pull her mane without sedation and it bled so was sore for weeks. She was hunting hounds at the time so had to be plaited and it was pretty stressful! I think she looks ok hogged and I get up much later on a hunting day!

Same here, I wasn't being rude, I jst said she needed more muscle, and as the OP said the photo angle was bad, it may look totally different at a different angle

OP - she looks gorgeous, I do like a nice hogged cob (much easier) though if i hogged my ISH i think he might look silly lol
