I just bought a hat, not a MIPS. Depends what you can afford and I cant afford almost £200 for a new hat just now personally. Shame they're so expensive.

It sounds like you're advertising for them - do you work for UVEX? Im sure you can find lovely reviews of pretty much any (non MIPS) helmet online ;)

Ummm as @AandK points out, we already covered that in post 31.

Also, as an American this part is a question more than anything, but given that you all have health care in different ways than we do, do you ever end up paying for the costs of any accidents from riding?

I ask because falling on my head and having to go to the ER costs me a minimum of $150, for the ER fee. Beyond that there are bills from the radiologists, the clinicians, and sometimes the ambulance as well. My VERY bad accident, referenced in post 31, would have cost me $25,000 had I not had the insurance that I have. So after all was said and done it 'only' cost $2500. And thankfully the MIPS helmet did it's job and I'm still here and kicking along.

For the cost of the helmet, it's worth it to me since I only have one brain, as @phizz4 also noted. I wouldn't save my money by buying a cheaper helmet with less safety features. But then I am working with 12 concussions already. So my brain has to be prioritized more than the average person.

Odd. I previously used uvex exxential hats best price I found £79.99 which is pretty reasonable for a breathable comfortable hat.

After a fall I upgraded to Uvex with MIPS for £115 I don’t begrudge paying the extra £35 for extra safety features, seems pretty reasonable.

And no this thread is not motivated by making profits!
