Hi All,

At the risk of being ridiculed, are there any solutions or specialist equipment to enable well endowed gents to ride comfortably.

I’ve just had my first couple of lessons and have found standard clothing uncomfortable and ill-fitting, and that’s even before I have got on the horse.

I would imagine these challenges put off chaps in my situation - I’m really not sure if I can continue.

please just ignore me if this post is not suitably placed on the site - I don’t want to offend anyone, but this is the first forum that came up on Google.
Thanks all

gareth, Wimbledon

Er, can't help you but you might want to edit your post and username to not be your real identity or include your location. This section of the forum is viewable by anyone anywhere
Thanks Cowrie. Gareth Collins is a pretty popular name - more so on Wrexham than Wimbledon - but thanks anyway

I believe Equetech do a range of mens boxers the “plus” range have a higher level of protection to the front and seat area which may be helpful (and supportive) I can’t comment on how useful they are though. You might find more old school hunting breeches more comfortable. The Mark Todd Auckland breeches seem popular with the men I know.

Thanks melody - that’s helpful. Haven’t mastered the search function yet, but good to know it’s not just meet me!

Seriously I am not ridiculing you Gareth, but men on this forum have previously reported using either ladies tights or ladies granny knickers.

It's always well endowed blokes that have this issue, try searching on that.

ETA that search doesn't work, just tried it.

No it really isn't, Gareth, it's what blokes have reported on the forum. They are also recommended after a vasectomy for the same reason, they hold everything snug.

Thanks ycbm. If anyone can help with the purchase of ladies granny knickers for a 6ft 2, 34 waist, it’s perhaps worth a try but I can’t see how it would work.

Shops sell ladies clothes in very big sizes these days. 34 waist is not unusual for a woman any more.

34 inch waist is only a size 16 at places like m and s

remember saddles were designed for men not women and its about sitting on your bum not your bits…

This is a common problem for men. I used to teach them and had to advise on the issue from time to time. Weather or not they were well endowed or not never came up in the conversation though.

Firstly, I would advise avoiding the highly lycra'ed tight breeches. The ones, like the Mark Todd ones, are more of a cotton/twill feel, plus have pleats so people can't see the contours of your privates.

Then, close fitting, supportive briefs. As has been said, tuck everything high!

I did think this was a wind up with your name and description, but I'm going for the benefit of the doubt!

Thanks Red. I’m starting to get a handle on the technique that is very different to other sports. Ideally I think it needs some form of all in one body suit to allow a guy to pull up as high as it needs to go, but it’s still going to be difficult with the extra layer of trousers on top restricting things. Anyway, I feel more positive and it may need a bit of trial and error for a bit I’m guessing

Thanks - not sure how comfortable I’m going to feel trying to locate the larger sized ‘granny knickers in m & s!
Could you not just go for tight male versions? A jock strap? OH just had budgie smugglers just for riding!

The pleated front breeches are not restrictive.

I think it would be trial and error, but I am assured that boxers are very unsuitable!

How old are you?! Don't you think men buy women's clothes and period stuff for themselves or their partners these days? Plenty of mail order if you really are too shy. Or just buy menxs tight pants, perhaps in a size too small if they are stretchy.

Hi Red - It’s not appropriate to go into details here. Let’s just say that conventional men’s underwear options are not suitable for me. We’re all different and clothes are generally designed for the ‘average joe’

I’m 37. Yes, I get it. Just not sure what I’m looking for, but will look online and work things out. Thanks all

Equetech do really good riding underwear. I've just bought a pair of their ladies' seam free unpadded briefs, and they are made from much thicker material than standard knickers.

They do male versions.

The sizing on their granny style ladies briefs is very generous, so if you went down that route you would find a pair to fit.

Thanks - helpful to see the m & s link. Will certainly try them. You never know, could end up being my ‘go to’ pants at all times!

I once (only once) got bucked into the air and landed on the pommel of my western saddle! Black and blue! Since then I have worn a cricket box. It can fit in normal Y fronts if you wear those or you can get specific 'holders'.
Try Sports Direct.
