She looks lovely. I know what you mean about riding a strange horse - I had 15 of Arch and Mont before Charlie - then 2 falls while I was looking so it got harder and harder. I was about to say you were very lucky to find Maddie so quickly, but actually, I think it was meant to be!

Thank you for all the recent comments! Maddie's name is now quite often being shortened to Mads. I am sure it will evolve though - after all my nickname for Cassie was Pops. And yes, it's definitely a good thing that I got her so quickly as it gives me a focus. I still really struggle with looking at pictures of Cassie even though I can talk about her quite freely, but at least I have Maddie to fill my time. We had our first completely solo ride today with nobody else around. There was not a second that she made me feel worried about anything. I do have to work on her posing for photos though. Cassie would stand up beautifully and not fidget at all. I did get this picture of Maddie today after our ride, but within a second she wanted to know what was in my pockets. She's a very sweet girl and I'm very lucky we found each other. xx

She's absolutely gorgeous, and sounds a real cracker. I love the great photos. I'm sure it won't be long till she has totally captured your heart, and I'm glad that she's helping you get over the loss of Cassie. Losing a beloved animal leaves a huge void, but I find getting another helps to fill it, though the grief obviously doesn't go.

She looks very smart indeed.

Can I ask what type of noseband you have on her and what action it has? First time I have seen one. Just curious, not ridden or had horses for some years now so no idea why I'm so FASCINATED!!... . ?

Thank you once again everyone! I am reaching the point where I am really looking forward to seeing her again. I have given up going to see her tomorrow as the livery yard is on a shift system, and as I am pretty flexible in the week, I have not taken up my slot to allow those who aren't so flexible to see their horses. I will see/ride her Sunday though.

This is the image of my Mads that made me think how like her Maddie is - she's also part Welsh but bigger at 15.3hh

Your Mads is lovely, and I can definitely see a similarity! :)

It is a Collegiate Comfitec bridle. It was Cassie's, but Maddie was ridden in a Micklem which is pretty similar. It's actually a bit big on her as she has a tiny head, but I managed to punch a few extra holes in it.

Tomorrow marks one month with Maddie! She has been a little superstar - long may it continue. The saddler came out today to check her saddle as I thought it was getting a bit tight, and it was. I got it new the day after I had her, so that's quite a lot of change in a month! A few comparison photos..... so pleased to see the top line building as we have been focussing on getting her to work more over her back and more forwards into a contact.

When I viewed her.....

She looks great, and I’m sorry to hear about Cassie :(.
My Maddie (full Welsh!) gets her name shortened to Mads/Madsin/Maddo/Moo, I’m pretty sure that’s the normal evolution of nicknames ?.

Thanks! She won't be Moo as my little old man (who I said goodbye to today :( ) was Moo. But Mads is sticking at the moment. It will definitely evolve!! xx

Isn't there just? Her previous owner and sales agent did admit that her previous saddle wasn't the best of fits although it was ok, so I think that's helped as well. Really excited about our future together - AM camp soon hopefully. xx
