Now everything is sorted with Leo and shes finally home I thought it was time to introduce the new one.

I looked at quite a few in a short space of time and for once tried to be sensible. I didnt have the budget for an older established pony and couldnt seem to find one anyway. So I've gone for a blank canvas with hopefully the right temperament. I went for a sensible and very friendly little pony at the quieter end of the scale. I saw a few flashier ones but reined myself in!

Shes called Bobbie. Shes rising 5yr old in November. She was bred to drive and has been owned by a lady in her 70s who has finally admitted defeat and sold up without doing any more than basic handling. Shes actually the most expensive pony I have ever bought. My OH handed over the rest of the money after I showed him a video of one I viewed bolting, jumping a fence and smashing the carriage and driver to pieces!

I can do all the early work with my instructor and then she will be packed off to driving school nearby to actually learn to drive. Its a longer way of doing it but I figured its worth investing time and money in her to end up with what I want.
Shes been busy learning all about standing politely today and I'm really pleased. Shes very trainable and really wants to work with me which is a good sign!

She is very, very, very fat sadly. Its only been the last few months so there shouldnt be any long term damage with a bit of luck.

Ignore the bit, we were trying things on and a wasp stung me on the finger so I took it back off whilst sobbing quietly rather than faff about adjusting it!

My harness fits, or will with a bit of tweaking. I wasnt joking when I said I wanted a pony to fit my harness/carriage

She endured the harness wearing and faffing with good grace! She seems a genuinely nice natured pony

She is very respectful of fencing which after the previous destroyer of fencing and the current jumper outer is a relief!

Ahh, she looks lovely. It's great that you know her history, too, a genuine blank canvas. I wish you lots of happy times with her.

Did the carriage smashing with the other possbility happen whilst you were viewing it, eek?

yup! Just as I pulled up at the yard I got a frantic message from a friend telling me the pony had previously had an accident and not to get in the carriage. Thank god!

Shes been brilliant so far. She is incredibly responsive and a quick learner. We went for a little walk down the lane to see the traffic tonight and she wasnt fussed, so we carried on down the road. All good. Sheep however are very scary and her eyes were on stalks at them :D Its all well and good being easy when theres nothing going on, I want something that ikeeps its head when things are scary, which so far, so good!

Her eye when she first saw the sheep! She was genuinely frightened, bless her!

Not happy about the sheep but still listening and with me even if she thinks I'm a bit mad

She is a fantastic pony. I have owned her for the past 2 years and she has been a joy to handle! By the way, LW, I am not in my 70s, not quite reached retirement age yet! I'll forgive you this time as you've given my beautiful girl a fantastic home!
