Now everything is sorted with Leo and shes finally home I thought it was time to introduce the new one.
I looked at quite a few in a short space of time and for once tried to be sensible. I didnt have the budget for an older established pony and couldnt seem to find one anyway. So I've gone for a blank canvas with hopefully the right temperament. I went for a sensible and very friendly little pony at the quieter end of the scale. I saw a few flashier ones but reined myself in!
Shes called Bobbie. Shes rising 5yr old in November. She was bred to drive and has been owned by a lady in her 70s who has finally admitted defeat and sold up without doing any more than basic handling. Shes actually the most expensive pony I have ever bought. My OH handed over the rest of the money after I showed him a video of one I viewed bolting, jumping a fence and smashing the carriage and driver to pieces!
I can do all the early work with my instructor and then she will be packed off to driving school nearby to actually learn to drive. Its a longer way of doing it but I figured its worth investing time and money in her to end up with what I want.
Shes been busy learning all about standing politely today and I'm really pleased. Shes very trainable and really wants to work with me which is a good sign!
She is very, very, very fat sadly. Its only been the last few months so there shouldnt be any long term damage with a bit of luck.
Ignore the bit, we were trying things on and a wasp stung me on the finger so I took it back off whilst sobbing quietly rather than faff about adjusting it!
My harness fits, or will with a bit of tweaking. I wasnt joking when I said I wanted a pony to fit my harness/carriage
She endured the harness wearing and faffing with good grace! She seems a genuinely nice natured pony
She is very respectful of fencing which after the previous destroyer of fencing and the current jumper outer is a relief!
