finished work to a phone call yesterday saying my boy had been injured in a scuffle with another horse but not to panic as its only a few cuts.

went up to him to then be told that what actually happened was he had been cornered at the field gate and pummeled by a much larger horse. he then in a panic burst through the gate busting the padlock and ran to his stable, a few of the horses got out down the road but all got brought back safely.

Fox is lame badly in the front and back, it is horrific watching him trying to walk :( the leg he fractured a couple of years ago is in the worst state, he is weigh bearing but not happy about it.

had the vet out today who says it is one of two things. the first is that the bone and tissue is just aggravated and inflamed hence why is is so swollen and sore. second is that the fracture has rebroken and when she said that my stomach sank. that leg can no longer be claimed on the insurance since he already fractured it, so if it is broken again i fear the worse as i cant afford the 2 grand vet bills all over again.

cant believe this has happened to my mild mannered wee boy, hes the last one that deserves it :( :( :(

took these yesterday, much more swelling today but was too stressed to even think about pictures

So sorry to see this, your poor boy! I really hope he is just sore and nothing more serious - sending vibes x
edit - please let us know how he is getting on when you have time!

Oh poor boy, sending loads of healing vibes, looks sore so fingers crossed it is just that and nothing more (may be worth checking his back too)

Poor little chap. Hope he has a quick recovery. It's always the nice ones that get hurt because they won't stick up for themselves.

2nd this after my boy hit our cast iron gates and bent them, he had damaged his back, left unchecked till i got on and he bronked me off and my humerus broke.

Def worth checking his back
