Schpug, they can't act unless the vet says the horses are suffering is what I understand from this. The WHW are good, but they can't do anything if the vet has said the horses are not suffering.
I just said the same thing on the original post.....I'd have a 2nd vet opinion.....you are allowed.....i've done so in past...
what the hell.....VET must be an idiot and totally damn well blind to say that these are not suffering....its sickening.....surely something can be done to take them away today....for god sake they need rescueing NOW!!!!
I'm getting quite angry now...damn laws...this country sucks!!!

Yes, so WHW just walk away... BHS on the other hand are trying to do everything they can to rescue them and get a vet involved...
The thing is WHW CANT do anything, they can't take them away without a written form from the vet saying they are suffering.
I don't pretend to have vetinary training but how can a qualified vet assess an emancipated animal as 'not suffering' If it was a child they'd be uproar

I agreed with B2B that WHW should have got a 2nd vet opinion; without that second vet opinion telling them the horses were suffering, they couldn't act as they are governed by law not their consciences sadly.
I am really shocked that they say these horses are not suffering, they have no water at all, every person and animal needs water, I hope they find the owners and take them down for good.
how can they possibly say these horses are not suffering, looks to me that the chestnut in particular doesnt have much time.
When i worked at a stables we used to get rspca visits even when the public had reported slipped rugs!
well done to everyone who is involved. hope these poor horses get thecare and attention they so desperately need very soon.
Tbh, this is the 2nd time recently WHW have been less than satisfactory, this and another incident involving a pony i know very well and i was shocked to hear it!
Hopefully, these 2 times will be the only 2 i hear of
I would have gotten as many vet opinions as it would take, although i'm pretty certain a second would be enough!
Is there no way some sort of pressure could be put on the owners to give them up/sell them? Everyone has their price and I am sure there are enough of us here to contribute. Surely all this publicity is doing them no good. I read they can be difficult but this would be a good way out for everybody, mainly the horses.

I can only think that the first vet must have had sh*t in his eyes.
Surely there's a vet as a member on here who could look at the pictures and already tell you they weren't ok
It seems really odd that a vet would look at a horse that thin and see it as being ok. I (or any of us on here) don't even need 7 (or whatever) years of training to tell you they need help!
