Am trying to sell a lovely young mare for a good friend but we are yet to have any viewings.

I can PM anyone willing to take an objective look at the advert please as see if there are any glaring 'put offs'.

Thank you
xx

Great advert the best I've seen in a while actually, I wonder if it's preloved that could be the problem as I mostly see cheap project horses etc have you tried advertising in a few places like on here? I think it wont take long for someone to come and view and fall in love as she seems like a fantastic pony! I think the price is good for what she is too.

She is also advertised on Horsemart.

Just dont seem to be getting any interest in her which I dont understand.

It's a great ad but I wonder if the good home bit is putting people off. It does sound a bit like you would be interviewing them for the job of owning her. There's nothing wrong with that, but maybe I just wouldn't be quite so blatant about it. Having said that any replies you get as it is I suspect would be decent ones. You might get more replies without it but you could then waste more time on viewings by numpties!

lol, i only just added that bit after another HHO suggested it read too much like a dealers ad

Haha, just goes to show how subjective these things are. Maybe just take the 'apply' phrase out? The last sentence makes it clear how loved she is.

The ad is well worded, apart from the invitation to apply, I would put in why she is for sale and possibly put "well established in all paces and has started lateral work" instead of walk trot and canter.

The one thing that puts me off is the photos of her ridden, she may be a sweet pony but in all 3 her ears are back and she looks grumpy, her face is nice enough in the one of her over the door but in the others she really does not look attractive and if I was looking that may well be enough to move on to the next ad.

from hho - can you change the stood photo in the stable to a better stood up one? as you cannot really see 'her' in the ridden pics and in that one she looks to have no neck :p

have editted the ad to remove the 'apply' bit.

I think it is the fact she doesnt really have a forelock due to being an appaloosa, so there is nothing to soften her face, giving her a bit of a stern appearance.

Will add though that I have already planed on new photos and possibly a video of her schooling.

any of these any better?

The top one is a better photo of her in the stable, the problem with the ridden ones is clearer now, the saddle is on her shoulder and her back looks really long, get the saddle where it should be and it will make so much difference.
The problem with photos in ads is that the right one can sell a horse the wrong one can put people off without them even reading, one really good photo is far better than several poor ones, she is not too badly put together but in the ridden ones she really does not come across well.

People will think there is something wrong with her. Advertise her for £2500 ono and I think you'll have more calls.

she was advertised at £2300 all through the summer and we had NO viewings and only about 4 phone calls.

Owner is now very keen to sell so price has been dropped to a 'priced to sell' price.

I definitely prefer this one of her in the stable

, compared to the photo of her in the stable that is in the advert now.

I've read on HHO that some thinks that it is important that adverts is correctly spelled, and noticed the following:

"We have owner Kylie for nearly two years and this is a very hard sale that wasnt an easy decision." Owned, wasn't.
"Tack available under seperate negotiation." Separate.
"... please dont hesitate to get in touch ..." Don't.

I'm not sure that it really makes any big difference, but who knows.

I agree, looks a really good advert! (seen the H&H one)

I would possibly try getting some pics on a sunny day as they show her off better (but then I'm a photographer so I'm always over-emphasising the photos!) but apart from that I honestly can't see anything wrong. Nice description, not missing anything out, and very very fair price. Not to mention a lovely horse.

It is a hard time of year for selling, maybe it's just that?

Dont understand how she can be 'too' cheap?

I actually agree with this. If I hadn't been directed to the ad from here, I probably would have looked and thought 'seems very cheap, must have something wrong with it'. I know I'm a cynic - but perhaps worth a thought.

Also her size really is ideal for PC, I would see if you can rope a capable child into taking her to a couple of rallies, I know when we sold our pony, people said the main thing that attracted them was that he'd done several camps and countless rallies.

Oh and also the one of her in the stable, I think she looks lovely and it really shows off her coat, but the one foreleg stuck out makes her look lame on it. (I'm know she's not, mine stands in strange contortions all the time, but it takes away from the overall picture I think) If you do decide to do more pics, I would wait til you get a sunny day, do a schooling pic (complete with white boots, and plaited if you can be bothered), a side on jumping pic where you have set up a nice looking spread, and a side on conformation shot where someone is holding her on level ground.

I find it really surprising you haven't had any viewings, because she looks lovely. I think you need to grab people's eye in some way, is there anyone up your yard with a decent camera who can help with photos?

yes, it's me! But i'm the one who is always riding her (not me in the trot photo, me in the jumping one!) so I may have to see if I can get someone else to ride her for me so I can take the photos.

I wanted to do the side on confo shot this afternoon but the weather got the better of us, typical.
