Two of mine came to us at 10 never being stabled. One of them is happy out in all weathers ans while he is good when yard shuts feilds when its sodden he prefers out. The other loved his stable, from november to march he would yell and run to the gate when anyone walk past his feild. Really wet weather he would go out, have a roll, a wee/poop and a mooch and then 30 minutes ish later he would be at the gate wanting to come in.
After the secons bout of colic because i didnt want him to spend 22ish hours in his stable with a ride/lunge/inhand walk after work and someone walking him at lunch he spent most of the winter on limited turn out...and this is a horse who had for the foeat 10 years of his life lived out with no rug.
When the weather warmed up he was hapy to be out and did 24/7.
So while i try and have them out no matter what i also listen to what they individually want.
