Numpties shouldn't be allowed to school

Because it is funny and I am bored and feeling poorly and require amusement

Thickos shouldn't be allowed to post messages on a public forum. The instances of split infinitives on the OP's entries suggest that they should not be permitted to write anything without a fully qualified English teacher present at all times.....!

I have been trying to ride horses to the best of my ability for well over 40 years whilst having to work extremely hard at a very badly paid job. I would love to affilliate just for one year but sadly can't afford it - but actually, if I'm likely to be slammed for riding like a numpty, rather than a 51 year old woman who's doing her best for her well kept horse, then perhaps I'll stick to unaffiliated and happy hacking.

QR ....majority of people see there horses as pets, member of family etc not money making machines
who are you to say to people that there numptys because they fill they do not need to compete there horses
ive got to say you can damage a horse just by taking it to compete some people dont want to risk there horses just for the sake of some money .
we all see where your prority lie tho

Ohhhh ok - phew

If you stick QR at the start of a post then people will know that you are sort of saying it generally and not aiming it at the person you reply to, if that makes sense

lol - I typed that, then I thought actually you probably already knew that, then I was too idle to edit it

I think I should probably go to bed now

OMG I have only just read the OP title.

"Numpties shouldn't be allowed to school"

So that's why it doesn't go to school anymore!

HA HA HA. I have to say TrollTalis has really cheered me up. Very funny thread!

omg i pretty much spent the past half hour reading this whole thing!!its an absolute joke tbh. there are some valid points to the OP but surely the 'cruelness' to horses happens somewhere in every discipline and activity as some people do not respect their horses as the wonderful and forgiving creatures they are. so it cannot just be aimed at the so called 'numpty' riders.
everyone has a right to enjoy horses how they want to, whether it is just hacking right up to international competition. an i agree, no cruelty should be used in any of it.coming from a background with money does not mean you are any better than people without. i (as i am sure many other ppl have and are still trying) did not have the luxury of having money to back up their passion. but it does not mean they are any less of a good rider, the same goes for whether someone wants to just hack or to compete. just because someone prefers hacking does not mean they are numpties. i love hacking, i think its a fab way to enjoy time with your horse, especially if the horse loves hacking too.
i love the post earlier of if ur so good u wud be the boss and not the groom!! being a groom really isnt all that glamourous, even working for international riders, been there done that. although everyone is allowed their own opinion, they shouldnt use that to put down other riders.
sorry, had to add my 2penneth! just got home from work n itsone of those things just gotta comment on

Not being able to sleep a wink tonight was very dull but getting up and logging on and reading this very amusing thread has made the hours of tossing and turning worthwhile. You lot have a great sense of humour, I can return to my bed a happy (numpty) woman.

I am not defending TT and he/she seems to have come here to wind people up. But I am going to stick my head above the parapet (yes again) and ask why SOME people (yes not all) feel the need to get personally abusive. Can you not separate the behaviour from the person. By all means have a go about the words - but why come out with the unpleasant personal insults.

I have worked very hard to bring up my children to understand the difference between behaviour and the person. When someone behaves in an unpleasant way - it doesn't always means they are an unpleasant person - and if it does why lower yourself to their standards with such horrible insults and abuse.

I used to love this forum - and yes there were loads of trolls and playing with them was fun - but people mocked what they said - I certainly don't remember this level of nasty and personal abuse just because people don't agree with what the poster has said.

Despite being part of this *debate* I have to say I agree with you Nuala - I think it is fine to pick holes in badly thought out arguments (especially things that are sweeping generalisations) and mock trolling, but unfounded personal insults are not necessary and if I delivered any of those I apologise.

"Judge not, lest ye also be judged"

Video yourself, step back and look at your own riding, ask if it is good and fair to the horse. It almost certainly will not be - so few of us are.

Then consider whether you have grounds to criticise others.

It was worth reading this thread for your comments.
None of us are perfect, even our heros look up to and have training with others at the top of their game, every single rider is a work in progress as are our horses.

TT,if you really do feel you are as wonderfull as you claim to be I think you will have a huge shock in the future.
You might be a half decent rider but have clearly not learned humility.

And I am extremely lucky to have been born into a rich family that provided me with every pony I ever needed, and will provide me with my own yard when I have reached the standard they require. I didn't finish school, so I'll apoligise on behalf of my stupidity for insulting the numpties.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, so it's not skill, ability and hard work that will get one to the top- it's mummy and daddy finally giving in and buying you a yard and talented horses.....Knew I'd gone wrong somewhere....

Could I just point out to you, without you deciding I am taking the p out of the rich girl, that that would NOT be your yard.
It would be your family yard that you are lucky enough to be running.
To make it yours in anything other then name,YOU will need to get out there and earn it then pay for it yourself.

And I will be the boss one day, but am happy to work my way up, sharing my genius as I go.

[/ QUOTE ]

To be the boss you have to find someone to work for you - and unless you change your attitude I'm not sure that's likely! Sadly all your attempts to share your genius are also likely be wasted if you don't adopt a better approach to communicating with people.

[ QUOTE ]
Thank you little_flea, that is exactly what I mean - mocking a troll is good sport - but personal insults and plain nastiness is uncalled for.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think most people in the thread had a problem with TT's arguments. In fact there was sympathy with the general idea that some training methods and some riders ride to the detriment of their horses.

The main problem was with how these views were expressed, i.e. insultingly, with uncalled for generalisations, in a patronising and inflammatory manner. This is why people responded in this way to this poster.

As for engaging with the arguments it is quite difficult to do when they are non-existent. The OP's claims were mainly personal remarks rather than rational arguments.

If OP is genuine, then he/she needs to think long and hard about how they express themselves and how they behave towards other people. If OP is a troll well then he/she wanted this kind of response.

I stopped reading after the 5/6th page :O

All i can say is that im a happy hacker i school my horses whilst out hacking. The last time i had a lesson was last year- before i had a uni interview where i would be asked to ride- so that they could assess my riding ability and other then correcting a few bad habits that i had dropped into, the lesson was fine and i managed to get the horse going well. i have only completed a prelim dressage test once and stay out of the competition world because i don't want to be looked down on and judged by certain individuals, i don't think its fair to generalise all riders in a certain aspect of this sport and i feel it is the few people that spoil it for everyone. Im happy being a happy hacker and i don't think that means that im a bad rider it just means thats the way i wish to enjoy my horses company. You never know some of these riders that class themselves as happy hackers could have the ability to compete at a high level but choose not to.
