Something terrible happened when we got back to the yard after the dressage, I was busy un-tacking Py, giving him a sponge off and taking the plaits out etc and he accidently stood on a chicken
We have chickens on our livery yard, a field full of free range layers, but you always get the odd half a dozen that get out and potter around the farm yard, they have got that used to people that as soon as you bring your horse in, there around you, I usually chooo them away, I tell them ''your gonna get stook on one of these days buggar off''
I heard this squawk (nothing unusual as there always squawking and clucking etc) and was brushing off his legs and noticed to my horror that he was actually fully stood on one with his back leg, not just a its foot or wing, the whole god dam chicken!
I was horrified and froze and couldn't believe my eyes!, of course big dumb Py....and he is known for being a big dumb buggar
, just stood there like nothing had happened, god knows how long he'd been stood on it, well I pushed him over and by some miracle it sprung back up pottered off!
I panicked and wondered what on earth to do, because surely it must of crushed its rib cage and broken its bones, his foot was flat to the floor when he was stood on it, if the YO was in I'd of run to get him so he could well, shoot it to prevent it suffering but nobody was there and it made off to the rest of the them and well they all look the same so I couldn't then tell which one it was.
I feel terrible, I can't get the image out of my head, poor little chicken, what would you of done?
