Does this explain to you why I'm in no rush?

Given that you have been through so many injuries with so many horses is an exracehorse really the right horse for you? More often than not they come littered with problems and very, very, very rarely have the so called perfect conformation you seem adamant on having. You seem to think that just because a horse hasn't come directly from training that someone else has screwed it up somewhere along the line or is only in it to line their pockets. Maybe, just maybe that person took the horse on, gave it the winter off to relax and rebuild into a normal horse and now simply doesn't have the time to bring it on? Lots can happen to someone in life in the space of a few weeks let alone months.

Please know I mean this kindly but is it possible that you thought you were more ready than you actually are now it comes to looking?
I ask this as someone who sat and cried on a horse she was trying because looking was so tough

Why are people getting personally offended that OP doesn’t like the horses suggested. She’s said her criteria and that she’s not in a rush, either post your suggestion and gracefully accept if it’s not quite right or just don’t post on this thread 😂

Because unicorns and rocking horse poop don't exist and if they did they would cost a pot of leprechaun gold to get them.

So many injuries?

I had a horse I had owned 6 years PTS when the congenital malformation in his neck have him full on wobblers in 2014.

I had a horse who was running blind into walls and fracturing his head PTS for incurable trigeminal neuralgia in 2015.

I had an ex hurdler, trained but never raced, scarred from a serious accident, PTS for arthritis in C5/6/7 which would not respond to painkillers in 2020 .

I had Ludo PTS for muscle myopathy and deformed pastern bones recently.

I haven't had any other injuries to horses in donkeys years.

I've also in the 90s and early 2000s owned a stack of ex racers, most of which which I bought from the auctions. I retrained those as riding club horses and sold them. So thank you for your advice but I do understand what I would be taking on with an ex racer.

No, I just think it hugely increases the risk that it's one of the temperamentally difficult ones and I'm not going to travel half way across the country to view it. I am explaining to people posting suggestions why I won't travel the distances of the adverts being pointed to, nothing else. If these horses were local, I would go and see whether the photos are a misrepresentation, judge from the horse itself as to its temperament and judge the honesty of the seller.

I dont think anyone is offended as such to be honest but I haven’t posted many on here except that one which had actually a good advert, that home was straight from racing , they gave it some down time and did a bit of this and that. Yes the photos might be APPALLING but it was only a suggestion 😊

Not an ex racer but needs some schooling. Only ever heard positive things about this dealer. Always open and honest and give a full picture of the horse.

ETA; apologies if my timing is bad and you're taking a break from looking

Trouble trouble trouble as Taylor Swift would sing .
Nice breeding but this is a horse who needs a nose to grindstone home which I don’t think is what ycbm is after .

This one I would be on the phone about .

This one has terrible pictures but he has a nice face and if he hacks well he is worth a phone call .

If you start a thread saying " Find me a ex racer" you can only expect people to try and find you a ex racer! Bit unfair to get narky when people are trying to help and do what you ask.

I don't recall getting narky, simply politely turning down horses I don't want to view.

I have asked for this thread to be locked. It was supposed to be a bit of fun for everyone and its pretty far from that now.

Clearly not as you do seem to want the world for nothing on your doorstep. Thoroughbreds aren't built like they used to be. They are bred to be sharper and faster. They aren't the half cobs they were way back when.

I think you should maybe look at something quieter and more robust.

You have come across a bit sharp at times. I understand you have lost a horse recently and I am sorry for that but seems a bit unfair on people who have taken the trouble to reply and find horses. Never mind. I hope the right one comes along if thats what you decide you want.

Well call me picky but "open to offers" always smacks of desperation to get rid of the horse to me and it's too far away just to pop along and see it. It's got a nice face, that's all you can tell from the photos. If it was local I would view. It's not. And I am in no hurry to find one. Apart from everything else I'm on waiting lists for a livery place so I've nowhere nearby to keep it.

I would most certainly ask your advice when looking 😂😂

As have I, privately. Unfortunately the horse with the injury which I was asking her about a rehab plan for, which she very kindly wrote out for me at some length, was gone when I went back to ask to view him.

I've been offered a very smart guy, solid type, but he is also injured, and only in February and I think that's not far enough along in the rehab for me to take him into a livery stable so I've turned him down.

I'm just waiting for one of those racing Clydesdales or something that's done a donkey derby to come up for sale.

Alternatively, maybe you could contact one of these trainers of this lot? Might not be too much bone on them, but would be an interesting schooling project to say the least. And not dark bay :D

I think the names make this 1000% better
