Olympic Dressage - Thread 2!

Don't get me wrong I think Laura is great, & one of the best riders we have, I just think the pressure - possibly because of her age showed a bit more.

Huge amount of pressure on the poor girl though - it's probably the first time we've sent the last rider in still being in a shout of getting a medal.

I'm really not convinced as to this new format of only having three riders on a team. I believe the number of nations competing hasn't actually increased by all that much and it does mean if you have one bad test your entire team is screwed

Trouble is they had to do it to get more teams from smaller countries as dressage was in danger of losing it's olympic status as not being "inclusive" enough. But i agree it doesn't give any room for anyone to have a bad day at the office.

I've no real knowledge at this proper dressage lark, but Hojris looked like the most powerful animal I have seen in the whole competition so far - as regards sheer ability I'm sure he is well up there. But he is not particularly old, so surely 2012 is still a possibility for him?

nice relaxed horsie finishing for once

nice to see bless

Yes, 2012 not impossible for Hojris. He's 13 I think. And yes, by far the most powerful, even more so than Salinero. I wouldn't want to ride him! Laura does an amazing job.

listening to the commentary one must assume she is riding for aus, all those geramn connections because she doesnt think she will make german team so be funny if she beats them

A colleague of mine has surprised himself by getting excited watching the dressage. 'Never seen a horse dance before,' he cried! BBC bringing new sports into the lives of ordinary folk..."

Quote from BBC website

Awwww! someone should tell him to watch the kur and really see horses dance (unless he's just being sarcastic of course!!)
