I tidied the tack room today and had a sort out for winter. Two horses have 25 rugs and there is one in the post that I just bought on ebay!! Didn't realise we had that many.

10 ponies 80 odd rugs (but collected over 30 years.) Concerning too is my addiction to bridles (especially new ones!!) Currently have four hidden at the bottom of my wardrobe.:D

Whoa there frozzy... 8 rugs each??

Are you all harboring some sort of affliction that only rugs can cure? Don't worry, I completely understand.

:D

p.s. I also cleaned out my tack and found 6 rugs... I only have ONE horse LOL!!! And the best is... I don't even use 'em.

OMG - so many rugs! Why?

Just been helping a friend tack clean all her spare gear - she is totally embarresed that to date we have over 40 pairs of reins, we still have masses of gear to go through. She has a small riding school and often when she gets a new pony it arrives with its own gear and other people have given her gear.

My thing is grooming kit - each of my horses has their own grooming kit for daily use and one each for shows.

I to have a Rug addiction, I am unsure of how many that I have but I know I have a couple in the out house that are unused and have been there for 2 years :-S

I love bridles - have to keep stopping myself buying more delicate stitched ones to set off my beautiful boy's arabian face! I would probably do the same for saddles only luckily they have to be fitted!

Wow, and thought my 15 for one horse was a lot. I didn't buy any though, they all came with her :) I have no room in my locker of course.
I can't help but get excited when a different rug needs to be put on!

Don't tell my horse this! She only has five, and one of them needs cleaning BADLY.

- Very dirty Fleece Sheet
- Summer Rug (for rain, I guess... though this hasn't been used in over a year)
- Winter Stable Rug (which is still in its original packaging as... ehem... she lives out)
- 100g (Light) Turnout Rug (new and waiting to be used)
- 360g (Heavy) Turnout Combo Rug (new and waiting to be used)

1 pony, he has 1 travel rug, 3 fleece rugs, 2 stable( underneath rugs) 2 lightweight, 1 men with no neck, 1 med with neck, 2 heavy with neck and just bought a new heavyweight as one of them ripped - not sure how it got ripped tbh, as it was fine when it was hung up :s

so thats 13 of you include the wee fleeces LOL!! Don't think I have that many jackets! spoilt wee bugger <3 x

After my latest purchases which were bargains of course my cob now has 42 rugs all bought within the last year and my shetland has 14 which i've bought since march! I could've been on a cruise for what i've spent on them :-(

It's truly disgusting...

Could have payed for a lot more than a cruise Flying Solo... don't go anywhere near a calculator if you want to sleep :D

I've got 15 rug's that don't even fit him anymore!!! Too narrow across his chest. There's no big horse's on my yard so now have to find a way to sell them!! All 7ft WB TO and stable!!!! That's 11 year's worth's!! Not that bad then!!! Im now a Swish fan fab fit!!

Here is me thinking I didn't have many but I sat and thought about it for a minute...

1 lightweight turnout
2 middleweight turnouts
3 heavy weight turnouts
2 stable rugs
2 under-rug
2 travel rugs
1 fly rug
1 sweet itch rug

+ 2 old ones for use in emergencies.

16 rugs for one horse?! Hmmm...

Holy Moly; you people are INSANE! I have 3 horses, and.........3 rugs!

Couldn't agree more. But I don't seem to be a 'normal' woman. Hate shopping. Hate owning lots of things. Less is definitely more. Will disappear back to my strange little world now....

I had a rug clearout today. I've given 14 rugs to my YO for her school ponies, given 1 rug to another livery, and I still have 20 rugs
6 of those I still have are for my 3 1/2yo I've just bought (2 x turnout, 2 x stable and 2 x fleece).
The rest of them are for my 2yo,(a mixture of turnouts in different weights, a stable rug, several fleeces, a thermatex and a masta cooler) just incase she needs them (severe weather or illness), although she will grow out of most of them by this time next year (she's a New Forest pony). One of my 2yo's rugs might fit my 3 1/2yo (Welsh Cob) just now and will fit my 2yo next year (as long as my cob doesn't trash it).
Even though mine both live out, I like to have rugs just incase of severe weather or illness, and fleeces/coolers for baths and travelling (or under a no fill turnout if a m/w would be too hot for them).
My 2yo "inherited" all of those rugs from my last pony (5yo New Forest) who I had for 3 years. She tragically took very ill in April and had to be PTS.
It's only now that I've felt I was able to give away some of her rugs.

Tallyho- they're all horseware too! I was taking the 4 rugs out of bags today thinking this lot cost nearly 1000! Its shocking how much horses cost these days :-(

You make me laugh!!!

You could have paid for me to tag along an 'all!!!!! :D
