There is no excuse for neglecting an animal if the owner is incapable of caring for the horse correctly then she should be reported to animal welfare authorities and shouldn’t have her horse back. People would have different attitude if it was a dog.

But you didn't actually say to report the owner to stop her taking her horse back. You actually said....

If she does take the horse off you and sells to her friend . I would consider reporting her to animal rescue

So she should report her out of spite/sour grapes because owner chose to sell her horse to someone else?

We will have to agree to disagree.

As far as welfare is concerned, I would do what I needed to do, if it meant preventing an animal from being neglected again.

Again, we have one side of the story here from someone who, from the comment about taking the owner to court, is clearly feeling a bit put out that the owner doesn't want to sell to them.

We almost always only have one side of the story on here. We don't just refrain from offering advice just because there is a chance that the side we are hearing is not the correct one.

People can give advice based on facts. The OP basically asked what she should do about the fact the owner of her loan horse won't sell him to her. Most people have advised the obvious, which is that he is not her horse and the decision is the owner's.

I don't personally think implying ways the OP can try to pressure the owner into changing her mind, is particularly helpful, nor do I consider passing judgement on the owner, suggesting she should be reported for neglect when she isn't here to defend herself or give her side of things, is just giving advice and is in pretty poor taste to be honest. I agree with SC that I really hope the owner doesn't see this thread.
