People getting your horses name wrong?

It always happens to me haha,
My skinny Arab is called Kalyeigh. No I havnt spelt it wrong as everyone asks haha. People are always confused by it since they presume her name is Kayleigh and I just cant spell.
Anyone else got a horse with a confusing name?
 
Yes a few people get the TB’s name wrong, she’s call Miraed (Irish name apparently) and you pronounce it Mirade (like you’d say lemonade for example) but people seem to come out with all sorts, Mirad, Miriad lol, of course I don’t mind, it’s good for a chuckle.:D

How is your horse's name pronounced. If it's pronounced exactly like Kayleigh sounds then who could be surprised at people spelling it "wrong"? Or is the problem when it's written down?
 
One of our showjumpers is french & everytime we go out competing his name is pronounced differently. I won't post his name here as you'll all probably get it wrong as well, unless you are a french speaker. :)

It must be an Irish thing haha. Kalyeigh is Irish too, our vet is Irish and he's the only one who seems to say it properly. Even I struggle so I say it Kaylee. Which doesn't help the misunderstanding. Where as it's actually said K-ali.

It's more when it's written down haha. Everytime someone says I've spelt it wrong. Its a weird name though so I'm used to it. Its a different name from Kayleigh but not as well known.
 
Don't have a problem with his name as such, Mark, although it can get confusing as his name is the same as hubby (therefore, cob is referred to as Markie)!
My friend's mare's Sunday best name is Magnetism. They rarely get it right at shows, over the tannoy we get 'Magnetist', 'Mangetnet', 'Mannerism' and (my favourite) 'Magnesium'!
 
My horse is called Kalief and most people call him Keith, esp my fil! The wee man is called Enif and most people call him N-if (if you see what I mean) it actually nearly rhymes with Kalief.

As a by the by, my ex used to hate my horse - in fact we pretty split up over it. Now he works in the Burj al Khalifah in Dubai ha ha ha ha!! The irony!! :D
 
My old lad was called Marragic but people would just guess how to pronounce it, he got called all sorts of things from Marriage or Mirage to Marajack.
It's derived from his original name which was too long, Marvelous Magic, his old owner took the Mar from Marvelous and the agic from Magic and it should be pronounced Mar-agic.
 
My youngster is called Phoenix - the lovely old lady across the road calls him Felix but i dont like to correct her as she always asks after him and its been going on for so long - so hes Felix when im chatting to her and Phoenix to everybody else!
 
My boy was called TNAVAS his sires name spelt backwards. (Savant)

I would write it so very clearly on entry forms yet more often than not he would be in the catalogue as Travis. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
 
Both my name and my horses name are always announced wrong, my first name is Cai, (sounds like Sky) but everywhere they call me Kylie, like as if I forgot a whole syllable of my own name! I have a really normal surname but after mangling my first name they usually get that wrong too. Then they get to Beau Regard and it gets worse. Fortunatly new horse is called 'Fifty-Fifty' for sunday best so that should be pronouncable!

The place I jumped yesterday did really well, my name was almost correct and they got Beau's right!!
 
My boy was named by his Dutch breeders.....Wubbo.
Now I pronounce it phonetically,in English,very clearly.So its probably far from correct.But everyone repeats it Robbo ,Rubbo, Wobbo, anything but WUB-BOW!
Sometimes consider changing it to save this annoyance,but he knows his name and it suits him.
 
My old horse was called Kedzie La Salle. Said as it's spelt, but oh no... we got: Kizzy La Sal, Kediz La Sale.... :confused: In three years I could probably count on one hand the times a comentator got his name right. :rolleyes:
 
I have a pony called Molly, but before i had her i had a pony called Holly, and i also used to ride a horse called Dolly for this lady, so it confused everyone, they often mistake Molly's name:D
 
I used to ride a NF who's reg name was portmore jazz dance,on one memorable occasion in a SJ comp they announced his name was portable jazz dance- I could hardly jump for laughing! His stable name was Guido which people struggled with even more!
 
I have a part bred arab with the prefix of Derw. For some reason, no matter how precises and clearly I print the name, the organisers of the show insist on putting Drew.
 
Our boy's posh name is Bijou Rock, at one show they called him By Joe Rock which might have been down to my handwriting on the entry form :D
 
I can go one better! I am called emily, my horse is called ebony, everyone mixes our names up, even me when I'm talking in a rush and not thinking! The YO's young boy has come up with a cracking combination of the two: Ebely, which he uses for both of us :D This has now been adopted by YO as well as the name of preference!

I did go into my vets as it was spelled wrong :p
Fidley - it has been spelled Fiddley and Fiddely - not a major issue but I like things correct :D :D :D

We used to have a chestnut "Tango" and there was often the comment "you've been tango'ed".
I used to have difficulty speaking and so when I said Lulu, people often thought she was called Willow.
 
No one got his name wrong by accident, but once my (now ex) boyfriend took the mick and called Blobby, Blubby! The horse had recently passed away so I was in no mood to listen to his mick taking and gave him a bloody nose!
It's not what he said, it was the way he said it!
