I seem to have found my dream horse but have a huge problem..he is pig ugly. A face that only a mother could love and he is a dunn :( What would you do? Go with the prospect or hold out for looks as well as ability?

depends if you can see past looks and if they do the job you want. Our mare isn't to everyones taste and a face only a mother could love, but she is a star she could have a monobrow and 5 eyes, i would still love her because she does what we need her to.

EDT: if i was the horses owner, i wouldn't sell to you anyhow as you sound very, very, very -murmers something rude and stomps off-

I think it is important to feel proud of the way your horse looks as well as it's capabilities and I'm feeling bad for feeling this way about a horse.

I'm actually hoping you're a troll, because if anybody won't buy a horse that's 'perfect' because of how it looks they need their brain tested! :(

I second the troll, 1 post... first post caused minor uproar once others comment possibly major..... hmhmhmh perhaps linked to our other "troll" ?

He is a nice horse but just not my usual type. I look after myself well and want to feel that we are both looking good when out. Sounds shallow I know but I know everyone finds different looks in horses attractive like we do with partners and even if I had a date with a man who ticked all the boxes, if he looked terrible then it would put me off him a bit..

No I am not a troll thank you, this is a genuine question from a new member, just wanted feedback, not hanging!

Well if you are genuine, you can see where we're coming from yes?
You're asking about whether you should get a horse that's ideal yet isn't 'good looking' and then further comment to say you're good looking and want a horse to match you..

;)

But is that so terrible? I am only saying that I find this horse ugly and that I would not feel as proud of him if I buy him. Wish i'd not bothered now. I'm not saying nobody should buy an ugly horse, just that if you felt the horse was ugly should you buy it? Would it make you feel negative towards the horse etc?

perhaps the horse thinks you are ...

-sniggers-

... that's norty..

well you could see why i could think you are a troll :) my bad if you are not. But try not to big your own ego up to much more please :D:rolleyes:

Look i'll give you my honest opinion, so don't be offended..

I think it is quite nasty. What would you do if, for example, you met a guy, he was everything you could want for but he looked 'pig ugly' would you turn him down for somebody better looking?!
If you're having doubts now, Before you've bought the poor animal, please don't buy him. I'm sorry but you sound far too vain to be able to offer this particular horse a loving home.

All i'm saying is, the ball's in your court. You come on here asking for advice, well that's mine.

sounds like the horse is better off without you if youre going to be ashamed of his looks!

^^ This, if this is real then stay clear and find something that is as beautiful as yourself, just be careful when schooling it doesn't slam the breaks on to admire itself in the mirrors....

Oh and make sure it's exceptionally groomed everyday, to showing condition as we wouldn't want it to get in a huff!! :D

Sparkly nail polish, Tv in its stable, and bedding should be made of Gold shavings ;).... perhaps hire out a salon to get that mane blow dried every week ?

Actually, i'm going to go the other way here and say I wouldn't buy something that didn't catch my eye in a good way. After all, horses cost a lot of money to keep and you've got to think the head over your stable door is gorgeous when its 6 o clock on a cold dark winters morning!

Well you are all very helpful I must say. thank you all for your good and understanding advice, hope you all have fun with your fat ugly cobs

Don't forget the stable mirrors!! Oh and the horse MUST be kept away from other horses as it wouldn't want to get mucky :D:D

Okay, we should stop now. This could genuinally be a real post
:p

Oh go away! Seriously, we've offered advice. Don't like it? Goodbye.
But don't insult other people's pride and joys. Silly child.

Thank you whirlwind, that was all I was saying, that something must match your idea of what you are looking for and your idea of a good horse in every way, not just ability.
