Please help - advice needed

Sell her!

Most teenagers are over horsed, on fancy warmbloods over 16hh that they don't have the strength or experience to ride properly.

Replace her with a nice forward thinking cob type or a native cross heinz 57 of no more than 15.2hh that she can have fun with and get used to entering adult horse classes on without worrying too much.

At our riding club one of the most competetive combinations was a lad about the same age as your daughters with a super show cob type. It jumped 4foot no problem and did affiliated dressage. He never got the same results when he bought a horse later, and it was always a joy to see him jumping the cob.

Don't be too hung up on looks or potential, get something that does the job for today that has got a nice attitude and reasonable capabilities.

I have to say there has been plenty of good sense spoken here without too much bluntness (definitely not required in this instance

) and I think nobody would call you a quitter if you decided to get out now while Abby has some confidence left and Lita isn't too much to bring around. Lots of support I see from the usual bastions of experience and reason and I'd feel very happy knowing I had the well wishing of everyone who has posted.

Let us know what you decide and good luck with the next move.

To Abby - you deserve something rewarding in exchange for your perseverence and devotion to a not very grateful horse. I hope you find it soon

Hi All

Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to offer us support and advice. This is typical of how I have found HHO - everytime I have had a dilemma lots of great people have take time to offer help and support.

I have spoken to the dealer and he is going to look for something else over the next few weeks for us to have a look at - with no commitment to do anything.

In the short term future our circumstances might change - don't want to say to much yet - and this will also affect our decision. One thing is certain I will not put my girls in danger so in the mean time I am going to get some professional help on this.

Thanks again to everyone.
