They have attributed an absolutely insane valuation to the horse.
Agreed. Tbh, Milly seems like a lovely person (so far as I can tell from Socials) but I was surprised by the description of the horse's ability. They are a very nice partnership but the results aren't there to justify the valuation. I do wonder how this has all come about.

Gosh sometimes I feel like a right wally pushing myself through yucky personal circumstances to get a job and earn my own money so I can do things like horses, off my own back and out my own pocket. Be much easier set up a crowd fund seeing as this how folks seem to do it these days!!

(This is sarcasm.)

I think I read that the £80k was a 55% ownership stake!!!

That would make sense, I was struggling to understand the GFM but it did read like that was to buy out the majority owner who wanted out.

I feel for the girl, it sounds like she is a lovely person in it for the horse, but trying to find her way in what is essentially a fairly cut throat and expensive business where idealisms just don’t cut it.

I don’t know the horse (or even really the dressage market) so can’t comment on value. They are worth what someone is prepared to pay based on their training/record/vet history/ride ability.

If I were her I’d call the majority owners bluff and put the horse on the market outright for what they feel it’s worth … I suspect she could then get some leverage to buy out at <80k

Because she got 100k from investors originally and now has to pay the main investor back. Its madness. She should have run him through an auction and made sure she was the highest bid.

Now if anyone has the details of this person who invests 80k in horses for your average person can you give me a shout. I'll buy an ex racer for 1k and spend the rest on fun things like tack and matchy matchy!

I don't know that I particularly judge her for that. She has a big following and a number of people were encouraging her to set it up. She is obviously very emotionally attached to the horse and felt like that was her only option to retain him.

But I do think the valuation is crazy, he would never sell for even the crowd funded value on the open market. I'm just not sure how they've got to a place where they are valuing the horse for that much.

Do you want our stupid pretty ex racer, I'll take £1k for the brain dead tit 😂😂😂😂

Ah, I see! At which point you'd wonder how the £100k figure was decided!

Bonkers. But it worked for Jonty and Art was valued at 5 x that so good luck to her I say.
True. Although Art's owner took a substantial drop on the horse's market value in that instance. And the horse was regarded to have huge potential by a lot of people who really knew their stuff.
Have to say I didn't really agree with that one either but none of my business how people spend their money 🤷‍♀️.

Does no one have any ambition and desire to push themselves to make the things they want to happen, happen? Where is the satisfaction and pride in achieving something in doing it like this?

I’m not referring to Millie here, but rather a generalised ‘bucket’ of a particular type in the equine world.

They are the kids that have come through ponies/horses in a fairly rich (in the grand scheme of things) and heavily protected environment. They have money/facilities/equine parents - but not to the extent of the mega rich kids.
They mix on the edge of those circles though like a carrot dangling that only a tiny % will ever achieve. It’s almost easier for the poorer kids! That life is never an option so it’s just a vague dream.
These kids live in a fairly unrealistic view that if they just love their horses enough and train ethically enough and work hard that the rich owners will arrive. It. Does. Not. Happen. That. Way.

These kids then either have to behave in ways they never wanted to, or realise they aren’t cut out to make it on their own in the industry.

I have empathy for them, to a very limited extent.
