Intrigued by, and following on from, a recent post, how many of you have never had a pot noodle? How many of you have them to thank for your survival? How many of you eat them as a daily staple?
 
Funny, I was explaining to my children at the weekend how Pot Noodles used to keep us hot and alive at the yard, 35 years ago (at the same time we were wearing the rubbish thin jodhpurs, wellies and Barbours mentioned in the nostalgia thread). I haven't had one since then but my son (12) often does (chicken and mushroom of course), and the smell takes me straight back...

Is it even more 'ick' to say that we often used to stand on the dung heap to eat them as it was the only place that got our feet warm?

The yard on the weekend was my introduction to Pot Noodle too!
 
I had one several years ago (having not had one for many years before that) and it was not good! I had food regret.
I used to live off super noodles and pasta n sauce as a teen but I can’t suffer any of that anymore.
So pot noodles and above examples are all resigned to the muck heap. 😂
 
Not had a Pot Noodle in years! Regularly have other brands of ramen though - quite often Lost the Pot Noodles!

Pot Noodles remind me of my one-and-only school skiing trip when I was 16. As the school regularly went to the same hotel, we all knew in advance that the food was dire (and it really was terrible!), so we all went equipped with suitcases full of Pot Noodles, Cheddars, crisps and biscuits so we'd have something to eat when the evening meal was bad. Good job too as the food was completely inedible on a couple of occasions. Mind you, I was about as bad at skiing as the hotel were at cooking! 😂

Pot Noodle...ewww🤢.😁. I believe they were launched around 1977/78? I'd have been 12/13 years old. We would take a flask of hot water and a pot noodle for " lunch" in the caravan/tack room. Absolutely disgusting, but we were oh so, "cosmopolitan darling", 🤣🤣. To be fair, we were so starving, after being used as unpaid staff for mucking out etc, we thought they were marvellous.😀

I used to stand on muck heaps for warmth on a Saturday afternoon too! Good place for eating lunch and planning rides.
 
A yard staple back in the day! (mid 90s?) I thought it was very high tech we had a kettle at the yard, would spend all day up there at the weekends, pot noodle for lunch of course!!
 
I have had a pot noodle for lunch today! Hubby has been away 24 hour pedal car racing (weirdo) and took a few with him as quick, easy warm meals. 2 made it home and the other thread made me hungry for 1 of them. It was chow mein flavour which used to be me second favourite but is now third behind Beef & tomato and the king of all Pot Noodles - Sweet & Sour!
When I am feeling chubby I tend to have the Itsu rice noodle versions for my lunch at work, alongside a pack of wafer thin ham/chicken - relatively cheap, low calorie, high protein, warm meal. Itsu are way posher than a plebby pot noodle, at least that's what I tell myself.
 
Never not a fan, but the other thread did bring to mind the fact that on a long haul flight in economy class on any self-respecting quality carrier, you can be handed an extra pot noodle at any point between scheduled servings if you're afflicted by the jet-lag munchies. Maybe the flight to Singapore brought it to mind?
 
Not Pot Noodles for years but, following an article in the Times on the benefits of Kimchi, I started eating Kimchi. Mine is from Sainsburys. It comes in a jar. I mix it with noodles to make lunch,

I pour boiling water into a dehydrated pot of Kimchi based noodle soup, Nongshim Kimchi Ramyun Cup Noodle Soup 75g also from Sainsburys, which is similar to pot noodles and then add some fresh Kimchi.
We have a Korean snack shop in our High Street but I am allergic to soya and I cant get the staff to understand when I ask if their dishes are soya free.
 
The Curry ones are the best! That said I haven't eaten a PN for a while now as I've developed a gluten intolerance which has rather put a spanner in the works. They are handy for a quick lunch if you want something quick and hot.

Haha! My partner, who wouldn’t eat one if he was paid said it would be fine, I’m really ott about dates on things. I’m absolutely terrified of food poisoning. I mean I totally know there’s nothing In a pot noodle to give food poisoning or go off even but…

Noooooo don’t do it 🤣

Nothing to do with class, they are just the work of the devil. I couldn’t get passed the smell. Son used to love them in his teens though.
 
My OH keeps a few in his car in case he gets peckish on an evening (works away at a place with a canteen for lunch )
Curry is his fave, he tried a Bombay Bad Boy.......😮 never again
