DA, please do not feel you have to justify yourself on here to idiotic insensitive people. Of course this happened and you don't have anything to prove to anyone. Go and get some R+R and don't beat yourself up. You made the best decision and everyone here supports you x hugs

Agree with this. Please go and rest and recuperate

When you feel upto it maybe link every thread about him to this one so anyone finding it in a google search can read the whole story

Dont feel you have to prove yourself DA, you did the right thing. After the things ive had to watch this week he was a very lucky boy to go peacefully with people who loved him around x
Dont beat yourself up over it please!!

Bit confused.... how can you say i wish they would give you your money back and take him back if he has now been PTS? Am i missing something here?

It's called 'drowning your sorrows', it's hard to write perfect grammar after a whack of Jack Daniels :)

DA I hope you woke with a clear head this morning, but if not then you have every right to have woken with a clear heart.

To be fair the breeders dont know (as far as we know) that the horse has been pts so its not out of the realm of possibility that they may phone and offer to take him back so apart from a word or two missing (which is forgivable I think) it isnt at all badly worded

Why pick holes in the story?
I hope their posting a picture of the pts receipt makes you feel better about asking

Good morning, thank you my head is not too fuzzy thankfully, i put the brakes on the Jack at around 11 because i have to work today ( had to work yesterday too, but didnt get a lot done, funnily enough ) and i have an important work meeting.

I havent spoken to the breeders, i sent a last ditch text the night before the deed was done, begging them to take him back, and got no reply. I told them the day and time the huntsman was due. No reply.

It was strange to go out this morning, to be able to let the dogs out again, and see my mares head over the stable door instead of his ( i moved her so he could be next to his buddies. But in a sense the relief is palpable and i did not wake up wondering if he would be in his stable or 5 miles down the road ( he had at times tried to get out of the stable as well )

I know i did the right thing. Doesnt make it easier. But its done now. I hope he is at peace.

So she missed the 'n' from the end (take him back/taken him back) .... an easy mistake to make after the day she had just had !!!!!

Thinking of you DA, but the sense of relief speak volumes, you did the right thing with out a shadow of a doubt ... be kind to yourself x

Please get counselling for this DA. You have had an awful experience, you do not have to carry it alone.
That could be a good idea. The Blue Cross offer counselling, and I expect the BHS do too. Might be a help to talk to someone not emotionally involved...

Thanks, I spoke to friends at the end at BHS to make myself 100% sure it was the right thing. The lady i spoke to (jodie) was amazing and shared a personal story of hers ( i wont put here ) which really put it all in perspective for me. Plus i have had all of you lot there supporting me, and my lovely livery antw23uk and my neighbours, sharers, friends, and even the farrier ;) Only one person hasnt been supportive in my decision, but that isnt something i can control.

Im OK, i am going to have a quiet week and maybe get away for the weekend if i can find cover for the yard ;) if not, just going to stay at home, hug my horses and have a quiet one.
