Racing today

Not sure if anyone is going to Welsh Racing Festival at Chepstow (10-12 Oct) but you can get entry for all three days for a total of £45 - that includes entry to the premier enclosure on the Saturday. Or £39 for all three days without the premier on Saturday.

Absolute bargain for 3 days!
I really wanted to go. I have an Owners Group horse pencilled in to run.
BUT I’m shooting Friday and Saturday.
Always the way. Why do hobbies have to clash!

There’s always the Sunday! I’m really looking forward to it and it makes a change that I’m actually not working for the whole three days so can enjoy the whole meeting 🤣

Amo Racing’s 4.3 million gns horse Poker debuts today.
Thank you for the heads up as I wouldn’t have watched it otherwise. I feel sorry for Poker, he looked thoroughly overfaced.
And why would anyone enter a filly in a race where the rest of the field are colts. What a lot to ask her to load into stalls with all that testosterone.
Back to my jumping!

ETA I realise Poker isn’t a filly, I was talking about Ziata

Yes he looked quite phased. The trainer said he’s more of a three year old for next season. Apparently a helicopter coming in upset a lot of them in the parade ring.

Frero Banbou had a great spin around before tiring coming into the straight.

Hope the Our Power’s (?) jockey is alright there after being brought down at the chair. UPDATE - ITV says all okay
Was that the jockey who had his foot caught in the stirrup? Absolutely terrifying to watch. He’ll have some pulled muscles.
I’ve just watched it all, I love the jumps!

I think that might have been the jockey who fell from If Not For Dylan later on. Looked like the horse stood all over him and then knocked him back into the rails as he galloped off?

First day of the November meeting tomorrow - the weather is looking appalling so I think there’s going to potential be a few withdrawn due to the ground although it’s current good to soft (good in places) according to TurfTrax at 06:00 this morning.

Jonbon is due to make his seasonal reappearance in the Shloer and is running for the first time after a wind op. Edwardstone and L’Eau du Sud are also due to run.

Unfortunately no cross country chase after they have rescheduled it due to the firm ground but it’s been replaced with a veterans race instead.

My daughter and OH are travelling down from Scotland today to go racing tomorrow. Could be a horrible journey! Hopefully racing will be on tomorrow although they have a house party down there so will have fun anyway.
Hope the going holds up and all horses and jockeys stay safe.

If does slighty amuse me how the BHA stewards reports see into the future as today’s report lists six withdrawal so far, five of which are going changed since the declaration but it does also tell you that Mister Coffey a horse I really like, wore earplugs which were removed before the start in the 1.45 as did Jonbon in the 2.55 😁.
