Amymay got me thinking when she sent me a lovely PM, basically we do no fund raising, my mam pays for rescues via her vet bill at work and obs food bills herself, so if clients come into vets who know me mam now they say can you put such and such on the adopt a dog account" so that helps.
Otherwise we pay for everyting else, I know it sounds odd but somtimes it harder to go down the fund raising route and im not a fund raider to be honest, I simply cant even ask for somthing im paying for let alone a donation:o I usually hide behind OH and he gets stuff:D
Imeven bad at asking for an actual donation for a dog (carey dont start) that argument is dead and has been put to bed

So, tonight I did someting out of the ordinary, I e.mailed a person who does portraits and asked if they could donate a portrait as a prize from say a raffle or guess the sweets in the jar:o (thing is now I feel bad):o it was OH's idea, I never even asked me mam what she thought!, not that she would be she has no time to wipe her arse let alone out else, I also buy a luxury cat and dog bed and fill with goodies and leave them in vets to raise money for Xmas, last year I spent £60 on the stuff and we got £400 altogether from money raised (which I thought was fab, had I have been more organised I would have done a few surgerys but Im not organised enough.

So going on the above, does anyone have any ideas to raise money, thats does not include asking people? because I dont like that? or car boots sales or book sales or that type of thing cos imcrap with this stuff? I did offer the portrait man a link to our rescue site for his portraits which as had over 20,000 hits so far, so atleast I offered advertising.

So ideas like the portrait one for example? (he will prob say bog off):D
Dont get me wrong the dogs will never starve or go without but I do think we need to be realistic, esp as my mam needs an op soon and I think she is prob going to have to employ someone to help with dogs, so for instance this is the type of thing Im thinking of in the long term.

Soz this is long:o

I was on your site the other night, you need a 'donate' button and a paypal account.
Email me your address, you spiv!!!!

Would you also be willing to accept vouchers from the bigger pet stores, if, you know, someone felt that way inclined? :p

There are websites where you can run up your own mugs, t-shirts, calendars, mousemats etc?

Funnily enough, the more people you ask, the better you get at it! I only know because I work for a charity and help to arrange fundraising events. What about a sponsored dog walk or dog show (perhaps better weather needed!), and approach (by letter or email) some of the top dog feed merchants and ask what they can give you? You can then give a goody bag (free to you) to any participants and take the sponsorship fee (Lets say £10). It is always a surprise to me how many companies and individuals are extremely generous and love to support a worthy cause, whereas it is often the ones you think will help that are not interested. Try, try and try again. Look for celebrities who are pictured with dogs and contact them. Go for it - world is your oyster!!

What do u mean have a mug with the rescue name on and sell it, why would someone want a mug with dog rescue on:confused: soz sounds like am taking the P but im trying to understand:o:D

Why do u want me address u stalker:confused::eek:

Vouchers, what do u mean, as in someone buy a vouchers and donate it?, hum, I would class that as asking for money, so a bit scroungy:D

K im seriously bad at asking for anything, I mean phobic and really I dont agree with asking in that way as in "oh can u donate" the bigger companies are a fab idea, and I would def e.mail those (see how I say e.mail):o I would never phone:o
The dogs walk thing could be a good idea, but its organising the thing, but somthing I would feel ok about in regard to raising money.

You are such a spiv!!! Like a calendar with a different rescue dog for every month, mug/mousemat with a cute dog on and the name of the rescue.

Voucher as in, if someone sent you a Pets@Home voucher you could buy dog food, treats, spare slip leads, vet bed, a crate, whatever.

Agreed a paypal donate button is good stuff!

I went looking for adopt a dog northeast not so long ago and, I think I found your site but not too sure? (And yes, I WAS being unashamedly nosy, so there! :p). If it WAS your site that I found, then the black text on blue made it tough to read. There are easy ways it could be tidied up to look more streamlined/readable/navigable. I'd be happy to spend some time on that if you like. Not a criticism, rescues are bloody busy with real work as it is (and I may have the wrong site after all! :p:p) but evidence stacks towards better designed sites having more page traffic (i.e people go from one page to the other within your webbie, in your case that would be from dogs to about pages etc, also keeps them on your website longer. In your case giving them longer to make the decision to press a 'donate' button).

As for the fund raising, I posted not so long ago about needing ideas for a charity to donate to this Christmas. I usually do an extra Xmas donation at this time of year for an animal charity, and was a bit stumped this year 'cause I'm skint :D I decided to do a sponsored walk, and still sticking to the idea for sometime in December (about 14 miles on a local route). I haven't actually contacted a specific rescue yet though, and would be buzzin' if I could do it for you guys. I'll do all that demanding monies from people on your behalf :D

ETS- I would never phone anyone either if I could get away with it! Hence I still haven't phoned about the local working GSD club.... (wha!? I have wisdom teeth.... hurt to bad to speak...) I'm a pretty wicked bully when it comes to face-to-face though, and will be happy to rattle boxes and nag people into submission :P

My dad also has a printing company, does t-shirts and mugs. Though would have to be after Christmas now as they are jammed with orders and struggling to keep up :( Am sure we could print some stuff off for you after though, and bully people into buying them :)

Ah I see, but come on....u have to be a right spiv to buy a mouse matt with some sad rescue on it:D
Do buy the calander froma company?I would have thought they would be well expensive and not worth what u would get back.....

Saying that I paid £8 today for some greyhound trust Xmas cards, wher ewould I sell these things? in the vets?

That's no problem re not wanting to phone - you generally don't get through to the right person anyway! But sit down and draft a really good begging letter outlining the great work you do and how their support could help you to do or carry on doing x, y and z. Go for it - I want a report back!! x

The site is s h i t e, although we have has some say its fab and different, I think yeah as in crap:D:D
I cannot even do the links properly:o but if they leave a complete spiv to do the site it will become more like a s h i t e:D:D

I would be happy for u to do out with the s h i t e:D, including re sizing the pics which I cannot do:o

I could not ask you do do a walk, unless u where def going to already, I applaud you courage to collect the money,I would jsut let people keep it:o:D

Lol yes miss, my report will be something like this.

"Kirsty I felt s h i t, couldyou do it":D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Im good at P taking, can I raise money like that:D

I am not working at the moment so if you want to send me a link to your website and some idea of what you would like I can do some nice begging letters for you and get a list of suitable companies to send them to if that would help?

I'm doing a walk anyway CAYLA... if I can do it for you guys it just saves me emailing the local rescues and hoping one will get back etc. Think of it as payment for that quote :P

Happy to think about the site for you, could redesign it quite easily, perhaps put it on a platform that is easier for you to update regularly (such as automatic image resizing?) so that you don't have to faff around as much day-to-day. Better than giving you a one off nice looking webbie that then needs loads of altering every time you need to post a new dog up.

Letters are no problem either, let us know what the general gist of the message is and I'll set up a template so you just have to fill in the name/alter the odd detail. Will need different templates if asking for different things of course :D

Seriously guys im not sure I can ask u to do these things, it feels wrong, and I feel lazy, which of course in not denying cos I am:o....well more disorganised, not much time, and crap with admin of any sort, and my mam is worse, think next to useless unless its caring for a dog:D she struggles to spell andf feed herself, LMAO,good job she never comes on here.

AnnJen don't tell her:D, I know u are still here under a changed name, I can never remember it though:o

I will Pm site details cos Cavey will prob just give u themanyway, there is a reason I dont put a site link on (I can explain if need be)

Well the walk would be fab and if u are doing one then I will def have to do one too:D with others of course:D

Im confused, do u mean u can alter the site we have or makea new one?

Could make you a new one if you like. Probably the easier way to be honest. Then we'd just have to upload it to your host, or a different host... either way! Do you own the domain name?

Carla would love to have a noisy at your site and give my opinon on it, as not that great on computor, so could see what its like for the unexperienced user!

(Really just want to be noise  )

Does the charity have its own bank account?
If so no problem. Every time you raise £25 I think it is, it sends you a cheque. We made an error and didn't actually have a bank account for the name we used.
We used 124thGuide and Rainbows and thats who they made the cheque out to!

Yeah we do have an account (as in solely charity), so what do I need to do:o:confused:

It's like a cashback website. When somebody buys something from an online store, using referral link through easyfundraising, instead of the buyer getting the bit of cash back you get it instead (if you're registered and if they have you as their named charity) at least that's what I read it as?

Another option is registering on www.everyclick.com. This allows people to set up pages when they're doing a sponsored event (such as the walk I'm doing) and link it to your charity. That way the walker can pimp the link of FB etc. get donations, and the money donated is passed straight to you. :D there is another, more popular one... er, justgiving.com, I think. But it charges the charity 15 squids a month to belong, which is a little poo imo.

ETS- ignore top paragraph, I'm on the wine and just too slow! :D

LOL
Ok you need to register at the site and then tell us all what the charity is called and then we all go to easyfundraising, click on you and shop.
Every time we spend, you get paid and it costs us nothing!

Something I do know a bit about & am happy to help with... Fundraising!! My other job, other than canine & equine chief cook & cleaner is as a head of a national charity's fundraising team!!

Blagging, as it's known in the profession :p is easy! The portrait idea is great, if your chap says no I have a tame artist friend who will say yes definitely, without the need for me to resort to physical violence!
I would probably go for a raffle, as people far & wide can sell tickets. For eg. folks from here!

The local Pets At Home has a box that people put food etc into, which if you don't want to feed makes great prizes for a fun dog show or sell/swop for what you need. I know the branches choose a local animal charity, it is not a nationally made decision.

If you want any help or to divulge your website lol PM me. I am serious about the offer of a portrtait too. And she has an amazing CV, her work is owned by people like some of the saudi royal family. And me, only because she's a friend so I got it really cheap:D

Hope that is some help!

Lol thanx, that would be fab, I have a feeling the fella may say no to the portrait thing, so that offer if your friend would do it, would be fab.

The only thing I think is if it where a raffle from here peole may think "yeah right cheating biatch, my ticket was prob the winner and she gave it to someone else" sorry I always think cynical:D

I will PM away, be prepare to stand back at the dog page, the pics are huge, and if you are epileptic be warned there are some bright colours:rolleyes::D:D

Wow the first website in 3D!! Agree that the black on blue is hard to read, but I`m sure with a little bit of tinkering (havent a clue how!) would be a great site, I know I shouldnt have looked at dogs needing homes!
If you ever decide to run a fund raising show/ event and need rosettes give me a shout and I`m sure we can sort something out for you!
