Rescue fund raising

Shall I wait till we change the site b4 registering it anyhwhere incase we need to change addy?

Mmmm normally I would be rather chilled and say 'go ahead whatevaaaah! It's all good!' but since I haven't had anythin to do with your previous hosting, and just in case there are probs redirecting the domain name then I would wait til it is up and tested :o Though you can always register it now and change the link later if there is a problem!

PM me your site details too please Cayla. What about something like a 100 club to raise funds, used to have one at my kids primary school, which although it didn't bring in a huge amount meant there was a bit coming in each month regularly.

Look at you wanting more help ;) first is your assignment now this :)

Im only kidding you all do a fantastic job :) the dogs are lucky to have you. Why dont you organise a sponsored walk on here?? i am sure people will help out i would be up for it :) also can you sort out some raffle tickets and do some local prizes?

Sorry haven't had time to read all the thread (supposed to be working!:o) but did you say your rescue was a registered charity? If so let me have your number and contact details and I can register you with a organisation I'm part of that donate items to rescues (collars, leads, coats etc) for you either to use or sell for funding. We only donate to registered charities though, been caught out in the past by people pretending to be what they are not so have to be careful now.

If you have your own website then a on line Auction, esp good now just before Xmas. Would need someone to organise but basically people donate items and they are responsible for posting them to the winning bidder when the auction ends. The donator (sp) says if they are happy to cover postage or else that is added onto the bid at the end. It's a fairly cheap thing to arrange and can raise a large amount of funds, dog collars, leads and treats are usually very good sellers.

Anyone good at baking? Dog treats are HUGE money making schemes.

Calender (sp!!), cheap to make online (vista print etc) and can raise a few pennies, does involve an initial out lay of money though so risky.

Ebay charity selling.

Do a car boot stall, only costs around £7 for the pitch and can raise alot, we made £250 last sunday for our rescue.

Oh and online photo comps always raise a few pennies too!

I am the most useless person at ideas - I'm just not imaginative enough!

But what I *can* do is organise. And organise. And organise. Anything admin related, lists, etc. I used to do a fair bit of events organisation in my last job (training courses, conferences etc). And my job isn't the most busy, so Mon-Fri I have at least a couple of hours for emailing etc. Don't feel guilty about asking! There's only so many hours a day that I can fill with FB and HHO and online Sudoku is getting boring....

Definitely worth having an easy to find donate button on the website. Do you have a FB page? Good publicity - invite all AAD HHOers who invite their animal loving friends etc etc.

Ditto the organising, Im pretty useless at everything else, but I'd be quite happy to organise, schedule and plan events...any admin :) I do it for my job and I'd be ***t hot at getting memo's, info, emails, posters etc out to people :)

What does the website look like Cayla, can I have a link? If you haven't sorted it out already, sister in law (to be) is a web designer and I'm sure she'd knock you up a kick ass site FOC if I said it was for the cute ickle doggies ;)

Dog show is a wicked idea for fund raising, there's nothing dog owners like more than to show to the world how pwetty Poppy pooch is and how she'll win the prettiest bitch class hands down :) I mean seriously, I must have spent nearly £50 quid entering Tyson into every single class he was eligable for at 5 quid a pop at 5 parishes fun show in the summer!

QR to you Cayla -
:Don't be shy -go ask for prizes! We did a table top tack sale (proceeds from tea/coffee/table rental to the charity), with raffles - I asked/harassed folk for prizes and it was easy cos I wasn't asking for ME but for my charity. Proceeds from raffle / tombola sales to charity - we raised just shy of £400 :)

Tryna think of what my old uni group did for Durrell Wildlife, it was more hands-on maybe, but it consisted of cake stalls, car washes (with another cake/coffee stand), someone swam the length of the channel, marathons, car boots, even a small facebook spam of 10 people got us £25! Sponsored walk for people who have had rescue dogs off you maybe? (or everyone :P)
Only problem is you need to find someone daft enough to swim the length of the channel :P
Yes to asking the bigger companies, also have you got charity boxes? (sorry if that's been asked I just whizzed through the replies) Even though they take a while to fill up, we've got three at the pub where I work and have about £100 in them each time. You put them in local feed stores/pubs.

Right as fab as I think what you do is Cayla, I am NOT swimming the channel for you before I get volunteered :p

But, def think we (HHO/AAD) can organise regular sponsored walks and the like. Also could I have your site addy please as would rather donate my RSPCA (shhhh) monthly DD to you to be honest :)

I want the addy too please you arse wipe :p :D
I'll help in whatever way I can, I was a salesperson (and a good one) so have lots of barefaced cheek and am good at getting stuff out of people! :p If you have any phone calls need making to ask for stuff I can do that. Will do anything else you ask me to do as well, I have way to much time on me hands :p :D

Ok loser keep your hair on:p

The point is I cannot tell u what to do, my cleaning would help?
I need you as the more organised and sensibleoen to say, well I think this needs to be done? but it cannot invole out and out scrounging from normal folk:p:D
At the end of the day, we choose to rescue, so if we gethelp the bigger comapnies should help, we spend alot through the feckers:D

I also maybe think thats a bit harsh cos why should I expect u lot to walk, I was thinking more trying to get everyone who has rescued a dog to do a big one form this area where we have obs rehomed hundreds and hundreds:) and get some t shirts done up, and expect people to wear jsut them and freeze thteir tats off in winter:D:D

Thats it kill us all off with the weather :) :)

I am sure alot of people on here would do a big dog walk and get some local papers in on it. We could walk around with some buckets i will ask people for money :) I will def come up with family but not SIL ;) :) come on woman get it sorted i will help you if needs be.

Im sure your site has got paypal on?? am i having a blonde moment thought it was on your contact page?

It has, its jsut the size of a P, and it says summit like paypal buy, it does not even say donate:o:D

Its all getting dorted though and me mam is getting all her homing contracts out to do a list of names we need to contact for a walk, so yep when dat eis set, I willexpect u down in your wet t shirt;) (to ge;)t extra cash):D seen as u are not to far away and bring the little beasties:p

Sorry, not ignoring you, I've been at work. A 100 club is where a 100 people pay a set amount each month, say £5. At the end of each month there is a draw and say 2 names are drawn out, the first wins £50 and the second £25 leaving £425 profit. Those figures are just examples, you can have people paying as little as £1 , can give more prizes or whatever, but as long as you have someone organised it seems to work well once you have signed up your 100 people.

For everyone who offered phoning around scrounging demanding things:o like the things I cannot do, if u give me suggestions I will happy say yeah def give it a go:D

Im going to go to the whole salers after me T, as its late night opening tonight and buy a dog and cat hamper for Xmas, and imgoing to get somechocolate and wine for one of the other surgeries as a hamper and me mam is going to organise a walk, and im going to try and cook some organic dog biccies:D

MM that 100 thingy is a good idea, cheers.

ALSO THE FELLA WHO DOES THE PORTRAITS SAID YES:D:D

fpmsl! Just looked at the site...mate that is S H I T E!! :p :D Thank god pix is on the case with that one! As for the donate button....I never even found the ruddy thing! :D
Right ho...we have therefore established you are best off doing the dog stuff and leaving the rest to someone else! ;) How about we form a fundraising commitee for you out of people on here?
Erm also you need a shop on your website, stuff to raise funds, things with your logo on, mousemats, mugs, keyrings, poloshirts. Not only do things like that raise funds at the time of sale but they also act as ongoing advertising. Do you have an actual logo that you use on stuff?

Aren't there websites that will take care of making/printing/sending for you in exchange for a % of the sale, and you just have to upload the designs? I'm sure there is, but can't think of an example, meh! Something like that, linked to the website might work? The problem with having a shop as an integrated part of the site is we'd be getting into the realms of needing to pay for shopping cart software, better and more reliable hosting, payment processing etc. Plus processing and shipping out the orders which is extra work.

Some way of selling logo'd merch is a fab idea though if CAYLAs interested? Could bully some company into making a nice professional looking logo.

I could prob knock up a logo.
Yes I know what you mean and cant think of examples either, however, many smaller charities still make do with cheques in the post with a printable order form. It wont be a large volume of stuff shifted so wouldnt be worth the shopping cart software etc I agree, but every little helps. Its also stuff you can get people to take with them if they are doing a table top or any events etc....to sell on the side of their stall.

Cafepress wasnt one I was thinking of but they are better having looked at their site definately a good plan to go down that route, they have a basic shop set up thats free.

There is another more basic one that's on the tip of my tongue but I can't for the life of me remember the name. :o

Regardless, if there's a snazzy logo I'd buy a ton of branded shite from a site like that. :p

Need a calander as well...think of 12 rescues to use Cayla, then ring a local photographer and ask if they will come do a photoshoot for you free of charge in return for advertising on the calander...then ring local printers and ask if they will do a cut rate for the production of the calander, also in return for advertising on the calander. We are a bit late in the year now...it may have to be a 2012 calander unless you can be very quick to get a small batch of 2011's done in time for xmas.
