There is quite an impressive lump on my shin ?In a weird way that’s quite impressive!
I got bullied to A&E a couple of years ago after a horse conked me on the head with its hoof (wasn't the horses fault, it didn't do it deliberately) and when the Dr was cleaning, stabbing and stitching he couldn't quite believe that I could neither feel very much nor found it sore or sharp at all. Whilst he was cleaning he told me he could see my skull and looked at me aghast when I asked if he could take a pic of it for me! (The wound was at the back of my head so I couldn't see it) it's not often you can see your own skull through the skin and I still have yet to see it ?? His expression got even funnier when I told him he could clip some of my hair away if he needed to to get a clean sight and stitch on the wound.
I think it's safe to say that that Junior Doctor had probably never met a horse person before and hopefully won't be as gobsmacked the next time he meets one and we are just chill and practical about things ???
I once worked in A&E that covered quite a large rural area and we had a rule that no equestrian or farmer was to be discharged without X-rays and consultant approval. I understood why ?

That sounds awful you poor thing.Love this thread!!
I was trampled on Christmas Day (not my horse, she just stood watching...), all happened very fast and thought I'd got away with it - only noticed when hobbling to shower hours later that my rear end was an odd shape... and had a gigantic, swollen hoof shape bruise on the bum.
I'm a doc and didn't fancy going to the hospital where I worked, but 2 weeks later when I still couldn't sit due to the pain, I found myself flat on my front with several colleagues examining and ultrasounding my bum. Turns out I had an expanding haematoma, a big bleed, and am now left 10 months later with a slightly deformed and lumpy backside full of of scar tissue, plus permanent nerve damage - I'm now called "numb bum" around the yard
My darling colleagues also commented that if the horse had trodden anywhere else "less padded" it could've been disastrous...

You just have to have a sense of humour about these things- I'm now called "numb bum" around the yard

caught my acrylic nail in a lead chain and ripped off the acrylic, my own nail and a huge chunk of nail bed.
took months of burn dressings to dry up and have it unwrapped.
it was my own stupid fault and it was 10x more painful than when i broke my shoulder and collarbone!
That's actually making my toes curl.
I'll pass on that.i can prob find the pic if you want lol
