What makes of rug would you recommend for a big build horse? Really wanting some nice deep rugs, and a lot of makes are just not deep enough for him. The horse in question is a clydesdale x, and only 4 years old, so still growing.
I have a Large IDx I like Fal rugs and have also got some Weetherbeta that are very generous depth wise and think they go to 7'6"...ooohh yeah Shires are alright too...
I find shires too short, i do like Fal but Premier equine are the best fit on my 18hh hunter type.
Weatherbeater are ok but i find that as the years have gone on they have got shorter, i have some really nice stable rugs that fit but the NZ i bought 2 years ago are a little shallower.
My horse is very deep and a Fal I got cheap was ridiculous on him. BUT I think that's because Fal offer an extra deep size and I didn't realise and mine was normal
I bought a horseware one last year that was too short too - I love rambos but this was the next version down (forget the name!).
Last year we had Fal, then I came across a Weatherbeeta going cheap, so gave it a try. Much better on my big chested girl than the Fals, so they have been sold and are being replaced by Weatherbeetas
Sorry, I'm a bit late in posting and am probably going to repeat everyone else.
Rambo XL is excellent, I've just got one for my chunky monkey and it fits a dream.
I followed Horseware instructions to get the right measurements though, here is the link http://www.horseware.com/rugfitting.asp
Hope it helps

I had a real problem finding rugs to fit a real chunky 17,2hh
Fal - too tight round chest and shoulders
Mark Todd - Too tight (sob)
Masta - ok ish!
Premier Equine - brill. Great fit. although there has been talk on here about quality and customer service,
My rugs have all been great though - except for the fly rug which is falling to bits quite quickly for a not very cheap rug!!!!!
Anything except FAL or Rambo!!! I have a cob, a welsh D and a not overly large native pony, and can't even get the things done up at the front!!!
I stick to Mark Todd and Weatherbeeta's......
